Role Title:Fundraising manager of the Hope Foundation (UK)

Reporting ToThe Hope Foundation (UK)’s Board of Trustees with regular reporting to The

Hope Foundation Offices in Ireland

Overall Purpose:To raise awareness about the issues affecting street and slum children in Calcutta in the UK and to raise funds from UK donors to support the Hope Foundation’s growing programme of activities. To hold The Hope Foundation to account on behalf of donors and project beneficiaries by working with them to ensure high quality progress reports are produced, and lessons are learned from experience.

Salary:£35,000 - £40,000

Working Hours:35-hourweek. Flexible working options considered. Travel to Ireland and Calcutta is required. Contract to be reviewed and renewed on an annual basis subject to satisfactory performance.

Location: Small Office currently based at Suite 77, Churchill House, 137 Brent Street, Hendon, London, NW4 4DS

Main Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • Identifying and pursuing statutory and trust fundraising opportunities to raise funds for approved projects in Kolkata
  • Making a programme of high quality trust and statutory funding applications
  • Building and maintaining relationships with companies and current and potential high level donors (people making one off donations of £500+)
  • Attending networking events and following up contacts made
  • Growing Hope Foundation’s UK’s individual contact base
  • Establishing a programme for fundraising within schools
  • Managing the Hope Foundation UK’s growing programme of fundraising events including the Annual London Luncheon
  • Promoting the eat4streetkids programmes to recruit more restaurant supporters
  • Overall management of the Hope Foundation’s Child Sponsorship which is delivered on a day to day basis by a long-term volunteer

Team leadership, management and supervision

  • Managing the Fundraising and Communications Officer who is responsible for administration, fundraising support and digital communication
  • Overseeing and managing a team of volunteers including volunteer fundraising committees and office volunteers ensuring that all have the necessary tools and training to do their work
  • Interpreting the Hope Foundation UK’s vision, values and strategies and sharing this with all stakeholders
  • Developing detailed fundraising plans for all income streams
  • Developing a PR plan for the organisation

Board and Head Office relations

  • Keeping Hope Foundation UK's Chair and trustees informed of important developments, especially in relation to strategic issues
  • Reporting in a timely and regular manner to the Hope Foundation UK's Board, and facilitating its engagement with Hope Foundation UK’s work, especially in relation to good governance and risk management
  • Reporting to the Hope Foundation Ireland who remain responsible for all infrastructure, brand and programme decisions.

Financial Management

  • Working with the Treasurer and volunteer finance assistant to ensure monthly management accounts are produced to provide accurate financial forecasts to monitor income and expenditure for the charity

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Liaising with India and Hope Foundation Ireland to improve the quality of progress reporting, and that reports satisfy donor’s requirements

PR and communications

  • Developing working relationships with the Hope Foundation’s Ambassador and Patrons
  • Ensuring that Hope Foundation UK appears regularly in target publications and that good relationships are established with particular journalists. This should be done with particular regard to recruiting new donors, particularly committed givers, and encouraging companies to support Hope Foundation UK
  • Putting together Hope Foundation UK’s Annual Review and coordinating content for leaflets, website and other materials including newsletters.
  • Oversee the management of Hope Foundation UK’s digital media (including the website and social media tools such as twitter and facebook)

Person Specification – Director of the HOPE Foundation UK

CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications / Masters in Development Studies or similar / Certificate in Fundraising Management
Knowledge, skills and experience / At least 3 years experience of working for an international development charity / Experience of working for a charity that runs projects in India
Experience of managing staff and volunteers / Experience of managing an international NGO
Fundraising Skills / At least 3 years fundraising experience within the not-for-profit sector / Experience of raising funds for a number of different causes
Experience of producing, and implementing, fundraising strategies
Significant expertise and experience of, and an impressive track record in, grant (i.e. trust and/or statutory) fundraising / Experience of, and track record of achievement in, a range of other fundraising disciplines including individuals, major donors, events, community and corporate fundraising
Expertise in identifying, and researching, trust and statutory prospects / Knowledge of, and access to, research databases (e.g. trustfunding). Good IT skills with knowledge of all Microsoft Office programmes
Experience of successfully managing and overseeing multiple fundraising projects
Proven track record of delivering against fundraising targets
Monitoring and Evaluation / Experience of establishing monitoring and evaluation systems / Experience of undertaking internal, or external, evaluations
Experience of producing high quality reports to funders
Financial Management / Ability to understand and interpret complex financial information / Experience of managing budgets
