Job Title:Veterans Associate Travel Trainer

Starting salary:$19.38/hr plus benefits
SUMMARY
Under general direction of the Senior Planner and General Manager, conducts professional transportation instruction, outreach and facilitates transportation resourcesfor veterans in accordance with the goals and requirements of the District, including support and enforcement of all District policies and applicable governmental regulations. Employee will work closely with the District’s Planning, Marketing, and Administrative staff, reporting on activities and progress.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.)
- Designs, performs and facilitates a variety of regional transportation programs that meet the goals of the District and the transportation options goals of the State and region.
- Writes, designs and enhances various documents to be used by veterans seeking transportation information and resources (including web pages, brochures, newsletters and flyers) using graphic, desktop publishing, spreadsheet, and other software applications.
- Meets with citizens, interest groups, employers, agency representatives, public officials and public committees that work on behalf of veterans.
- Meets with veteran members of the public individually and in groups, who are ambulatory and non-ambulatory, to provide comprehensive training of transit, bicycling, walking, carpooling, etc. Curriculum is of applied learning type and includes the actual use of transportation modes (transit, bicycling, pedestrian, skateboard).
- Coordinates and operates events targeted to or involving veteran members of the public such as group bicycle rides, field trips using transit, neighborhood and community walks, etc. Events are tailored toward travel training and can involve event site design and set up, event permitting, marketing and outreach, recruiting and organizing volunteers, etc.
- Plans and implements comprehensive marketing campaigns to achieve program goals. Coordinates marketing efforts completed by contracted marketing firms.
- Travels to work sites, meetings, conferences and training sessions, as needed or required.
- Initiates purchases to fulfill program goals in accordance with District procurement rules and procedures.
- Prepares reports on program activities and completion of major milestones.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
In consultation with the Senior Planner, supervises contractors including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school Diploma and two years of related experience and/or training are preferred but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Spanish fluency is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Familiarity with email, editing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software applications. Familiarity with web design, graphic design and databases, social media are all pluses.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid and current Oregon driver's license.
