PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Greetings RLMS Parents/Guardians:
The year is underway! I encourage you to attend our upcoming RLMS Open House on Wednesday, September 10th at 7pm. If you are in need of additional Infinite Campus support, our library media specialist and technology integration teacher will be available at 6pm to answer questions, share tips or merely get you logged in! It is always fun to see parents live a “day in the life” of a middle schooler! If you are unable to attend the Open House night, do not hesitate to contact a teacher or your child’s counselor if you have any specific questions.
School safety is our number one priority. The students and staff participated in our first lockdown drill this year. This is one of many emergency drills that we will continue to practice throughout the year. The drill was overseen by the Fairfield Police Department and RLMS Administrative Team. I am happy to report that RLMS did extremely well during the drill. The students demonstrated an impressive level of maturity throughout the drill. I wanted to thank all parents and visitors to RLMS for embracing our new cart system. Parents are able to drop off items during the school day if needed. Items should be placed on the cart outside of the school and labelled with the student name and grade.
I will continue to share information about exciting events that are happening at the middle school level. On the extracurricular front…clubs are starting! Information regarding clubs is announced throughout the school. Encourage your son or daughter to get involved and join a club. Clubs run on Mondays and Thursdays and a late bus is available for students. It is a great way to meet new friends and connect with their school in a different way. I am once again planning on strapping on my running shoes and get outrun by the entire RLMS Cross Country Team. Our website is under construction but it is growing every day. Teacher websites and RLMS information and additional club information will continue to be posted in the weeks ahead.
Extra help sessions are part of our culture at RLMS. All teachers are available from 2:50-3:10pm every Monday and Thursday. Please encourage your child to seek out extra help and attend these sessions. The late bus that runs from RLMS on Mondays and Thursdays at 4pm to help support all of our after school programs.
Our students and staff are enjoying our new food service provider. Please make sure to activate and fund your child’s lunch account, send lunch money or send your child with a brown bag lunch. RLMS is no longer able to provide “lunch loans”.
I am looking forward to our first parent coffee sponsored by the PTSA. Parents are invited to attend the PTSA meeting in the RLMS cafeteria on Tuesday, September 9th at 7pm. I will be there to give you an overview of the exciting year ahead.
