·  Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment

-On February 8th teachers participated in a number of activities relative to professional development (Early Release Day). The second half of the school day was devoted to teachers working individually, with grade level teams, or content specialists on topics related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Some teachers worked on technology integration while others analyzed student data, etc. It was a very productive day.

-Teachers are finishing up administering benchmark assessments in reading and math. Teachers will analyze data to inform their instruction and in some cases make recommendations for interventions.

-Teacher recently completed additional professional development in the area of Responsive Classroom’s Morning Meeting. They have been implementing new practices over the last few months to build upon the already strong classroom culture. Teachers are eligible to receive professional development points for their participation.

·  Community Building

-  Our next Community Meeting is Friday, February 17th. We will take this time to introduce our new Care to Read Book “Say Something” which encourages students to be upstanders rather than bystanders if they witness someone being mean or unkind to a friend. Our greeting will be focused on saying hello in many different languages.

-  Students celebrated Valentine’s Day with parties in each of their classrooms thanks to the many room parents and teachers. The students looked like they had a lot of fun.

-  100th Day for Kindergarten students is on February 16, 2017.

·  PTO

-We have several Academic Enrichment Programs scheduled over the next few weeks including, Bubbleology, Day in Ghana, and Live Animals presentation.

- I will be asking PTO for their assistance in setting up for our art show which coincides with our annual musicals each year.

-This year Crisafulli School has invited Robinson to join them in their annual Spring Fest. After seeking feedback from staff regarding this fun event for families we will pull together a small committee to assist with the planning.
