TENSION

10 x 10 cm = 14sts and 19 rows using 6 mm needles. Change the needle size if the correct tension is not obtained.

NOTE

The model is a tight fit with long body and arms. Shorten arms if necessary.

METHOD

Body and sleeves are worked in the round from lower edge to underarm. Body and sleeves are then joined and worked together in the round until the sweater is finished. Follow charts from right to left. Opening for zipper is made by knitting 2 purl sts in center of the front in the beginning of every rnd. The front opening is cut up after sewing 2 rows up and down

BODY

Cast on 104 (116, 122, 128, 140, 152) sts, using 4½ mm twin pin and colour A and join into a circle. Always purl the 2 firststs of the round for zipper opening. Knit rib: *K1, P1* for 5½ cm. Change to 6 mm twin pin, work in St st (K each round) and increase 7 (7, 9, 9, 5, 3) sts evenly distributed over the round => 111 (123, 131, 137, 145, 155)sts. Work pattern from Chart 1. The last st in every rnd is knitted as the first st to obtain even pattern on each side of zipper. Continue in St st until work measures 47 (49, 51, 52, 53, 54)cm from cast on edge. Put aside. Do not break the yarn.

SLEEVES

Cast on 24 (28, 32, 36, 40, 44) sts, using 4½ mm double pointed needles and color A. Join into a

circle and knit rib *K1, P1* for 5½ cm. Change to 6 mm double pointed needles, work in St st and increase 6 (2, 4, 0, 2, 4) sts evenly distributed over the round => 30 (30, 36, 36, 42, 48) sts. Work pattern from Chart 1. After Chart 1 immediately increase 2 sts (1 st at the beginning and 1 st at the end of the round) and thereafter increase 2 sts in the same way for every 9th round 6 (7, 6, 8, 6, 5) times => 42 (44, 48,52, 54, 58)sts. Continue without further increases until work measures 51 (52, 53, 54, 55, 56) cm.

Slip 8 (8, 10, 10, 10, 10) sts of the round to holder or loose thread for underarm (the first and the last sts of the rnd). Knit the other sleeve in the same way.

YOKE

Join sleeves to body as follows. And always purl the 2first sts. Do not count those sts below. By using 6 mm twin pin, K24 (26, 28, 29, 31, 33) sts across body, slip 7 (9, 9, 10, 10, 10)sts of body to holder or thread for underarm, K34 (36, 38, 42, 44, 48) sts across sleeve 1, K47 (51, 55, 57, 61, 67)sts across body, slip 7 (9, 9, 10, 10, 10) sts on holder or thread for underarm, K34 (36, 38, 42, 44, 48) across sleeve 2 and K24 (26, 28,29, 31, 33)sts across body => 163 (175, 187, 199, 211, 229) sts + 2 purlst.. The stitches are not even since the last stitch in every rnd is knitted as the first stitch of the rnd. Work pattern from Chart 2. After Chart 2 you have 55 (59, 63, 67, 71, 77) sts+ 2 purl sts.

NECKLINE

Change to 4½ mm double pointed needles and work in St st and colorA while decreasing 14 (14, 14, 14, 14, 16)sts evenly distributed over the round => 41 (45, 49, 53, 57, 61) sts + 2 purl sts. Knit rib *K1, P1* for 4½ cm.

Cast off loosely.

FINISHING

Weave in loose ends and graft underarm sts together. Sew two seems with sewing machine on each side of the purl sts. Cut up in between. Sew on zipper by hand or with machine.
