09/2011 to 02/2013: Consultant. Supplier management consulting at various companies. Most notably:

  • 10/2012 to 02/2013: SpaceX, Hawthorne, CA.Avionics Supplier Development Consultant.Performing quality assurance, reliability and maintainability evaluations and test/verification oversight and participation. Took part in avionics system test definition and qualification test execution. Participated in avionics systems software integration, verification & validation. Supplier auditing/surveying and contract review functions in support of a very aggressive production and delivery schedule for the Falcon, Dragon and Grasshopper space flight systems. Qualifying special processes and NADCAP certification processes for SpaceX’s specific applications. Conducted Contract and Rate Readiness Reviews.Source inspections performed against Mil-I-45208A and Mil-Q 985A for PWB/PCB/PCBA and wiring and soldering inspection. In-process and final inspections performed on complex avionics assemblies, mechanical, electrical and assemblies. Performed special process inspection of structural fabrication and weld, using visual, magnetic particle, penetrant, radiography and ultrasonic inspection.

Quality System Assurance for Ducommun composite structures of various sub-contract machined and sheet metal component suppliers. Facilitated Rate Readiness Reviews against AS9100 and ISO QMS. Led problem reporting processes and root cause analysis. Initiated Corrective Action Reporting for SCARS and assured the implementation of CAR responses. Provided oversight of supplier performance against contract line item deliveries against on-time EVMS schedule commitments.Performed in-process and final source inspections on machined parts and assemblies specified per ANSI Y14.5 GD&T using various mechanical inspection tools such as; micrometers, calipers, thickness gauges, depth gauges, thread gauges, feeler gauges, spline gauges and optical comparators.
  • 09/2011 to 01/2012:Gulfstream Aerospace, Savannah, GA.Quality Assurance & Maintainability Reliability Consultant.Performed quality system assurance for Gulf Stream Aircraft of various sub-contract machined structures, sheet metal components, electronic and hydraulic sub-systems. Facilitated reliability evaluations using, BIT, Root Cause, FMEA/FMECA, MTBR/MTBF and fault tree analysis, tested Readiness Reviews, and HALT accelerated testing. Managed supplier performance against contract.FAI Inspection performed using AS9102 forms for traceability back to the specified drawings. Performed conformity inspection against drawings, travelers, test requirements, inspection and test reports, material certifications, and certificates of conformance.

05/2007 to 01/2009: Physical Optics Corporation, Torrance, CA

  • Director.ProductionandEngineeringOperations. Responsibilities included performing as a programs portfolio manager and division director.Coordinated the creation of a new support organization capable of leading POC from prototype concept and design into product launch and follow-on manufacturing and supply-chain support. Directed activities in: research, manufacturing engineering, design, configuration management, quality assurance, test engineering, integrated logistics support, sub-contracts, procurement, and production. Managed a number of programs including: an advanced avionics flight data recorder program for a Sikorsky Aircraft customer through TSO-FAA flight certification and delivery, and a NavAir customer toward STC/PMA certification. Provided program management support for Army-TATRC 802.11 wireless dog-tag program to manage medical records to HIPPA and BMIST requirements. Provided manufacturing support for Army Special Forces Command to supply a newly developed wearable computer network.

  • Program Manager. Responsible for developing GE Aerospace Corona facility as a leading provider of refueling systems to the Boeing 767 Global Tanker Transport Refueling program. Established internal business procedures and technical processes to meet the customer’s delivery schedule of flight approved hardware requirements. Facilitated the improvement of the company’s supply chain to a self-source status.Established lean manufacturing floor using “pull” techniques. Facilitated process implementation within design engineering and test engineering groups to provide daily tracking visibility and performance measurement. Facilitated software development, test and integration activities. Provided internal process guidance between departments to facilitate operational flow.Worked with department heads to establish performance metrics and baselines and behavioral disciplines required for company-wide continuous improvement program. Negotiated all program contract terms as related to schedule, budget, and technical requirements. Responsible for tactical and strategic planning and organizing of project work flows and all staffing activities.
