Raise purchase order from data sheets. Finalise all design and issue instrument & process hook-ups for installation.

CONSTRUCTION PHASE

Primarily employed to monitor 4000 i/o's to as built status. Using tracer and junior draughtsman maintain databases of instrument and multicore schedules. Check quality assurance documentation for loop integrity. Devise additional dcs jumper cordsets. Assist analyser engineer with BP standards and installation methods. Give field assistance to chemical, process, & systems engineers. Support construction supervisors with drawings and technical details as required.

COMMISSIONING PHASE

Modification to problematic systems. Re-engineering of inadequate field solutions. Improve level systems working with a 3 phase interface. Working with a small team of technicians update all instrument & electrical databases to reflect running status. Correct defective design for a number of Installations. Check all loops against constantly revised p &id's.

CORRECTIVE ENGINEERING PHASE

Design and detail current and future modifications to running plant. Fast track purchase of instrument and electrical equipment for same week delivery. Obtain radiography and inspection clearances for 'instant installations'. Update p & id's [40 off] to as built status using tracer and cad drafter. Prepare drawings for shutdown period. Visit skid manufacturers to progress the project and observe the testing procedures. Sign acceptances on behalf of customer.

1st SHUTDOWN

On demand solutions to on demand problems for 47 continuous days re-instrumentation of vendor packages on 'inspection' failure. Back draft updated modifications for process systems.

From management briefings produce a four year plan. Organise road closures with local council. All ongoing modifications to minimise impact on continuous running of plant. Project to include a hydrogen storage facility, upgrade power supplies. The above company had no drawing records to reference so all work had to be site / inspected and checked at all times.

Prepare and issue instrument schematics, loop diagrams, and any drawings deemed necessary for the installation of a 500 i/o DCS system. Detail interface drawings of plc and shutdown system from vendor packages. Commission and as built system. Visit suppliers to check on progress of control panels and sign acceptance's on behalf of the customer. Issue all process and pneumatic schematics/ loops to the maintenance group.

Seconded to the works projects section [Inst / Elec] to generate as built and construction details for a oil fired boiler plc control panel and associated re-instrumentation. Followed by working across the whole site on new and replacement instrumentation. Produce project packs for maintenance teams. Using piping experience details and parts list process hook-ups for construction and inspection monitoring packs. Draw and detail local control panel’s motor starting, manual and auto shutdown, process control, & monitoring. Upgrade engine test house facilities interfacing new computing systems to petrol engine controllers.

Working from the onshore base design and detail firefighting system for s.i.611. from offshore surveys produce arrangement drawings of piping clusters for hazop committee analysis. Detail all piping spools and specials for the complete installation of project. Working offshore check zones and standards to minimise installation time. Commission system with project engineer. Working for maintenance department visit offshore installations to measure and define project brief. Projects varied from process piping spool replacement to fire and gas panel installation. To provide as built drawings [instrument / electrical] for onshore and offshore process plant and services.
