Robert Earl Brady Memorial Scholarship

City of Horn Lake Mississippi

Robert Earl Brady spent much of his adult working life in the field of law enforcement in Desoto County Mississippi. He served more than 35 years in this field in Desoto County. Sergeant Brady was in his 20th year of service with the Horn Lake Mississippi Police Department at the time of his death, at age 70, in March 2010. While he worked in a few other professions, none could come close to garnering the passion that he had for law enforcement, as it is often said, “it was in his blood”.

Brady embodied what a professional law enforcement officer should be. He garnered the respect of his colleagues, often offering advice and guidance to junior officers. He was always up to the task, no matter what the task was. He was stern when necessary and also able to know when a situation warranted compassion. He loved children and was always there for them regardless of the need. It could be as simple as stopping a few minutes and throwing a football with them, giving advice and direction or giving out candy to them as he patrolled the streets. Sergeant Brady gave of his time to worthy causes and made Christmas special for many families throughout the years.

Brady loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting and camping. He was all about family and one of his greatest treasures was to go camping, usually somewhere in the mountains with his family. He especially loved taking the grandkids on these trips and sharing his passion for the outdoors with them.
