Event details

It looks like we have two Men's running teams and hopefully, two women's running teams if Chris or Sam are happy to run in a women's team. Otherwise, we can enter a composite team. I'm not sure which children intend to run but there are four in a team - or they can enter with the adults in a composite team.

Youth 4 X 3200

Walkers 2 X 5000 Werner and Alan; Rod and John

Runners 5 X 5000 (Women) Sarah F, Sandra, Sara, Bev, Camille, Danielle, Verna, Toni, Naomi, Chris? (Men) Paul, Greg, Grant, William, Pete C, Pete J, Jamie, Mike, Steve, Nic,

The 37th running of this popular event is on Saturday 12 September. As Rotorua tends to get ‘booked out’ early, would those interested in going please put their names on a list on the notice board. At this stage the club needs some indication of numbers to start arranging accommodation. We need to move fast as there is an ITM cup rugby game on the same weekend so accommodation will be at a premium.

RESULTS

AMBLER SHIELD - Onepoto Basin – 11 July 2015 – approx. 5000m

This handicap cross-country was competed for by a disappointing small field of just eight runners in dry conditions but soft underfoot. It was a day for the runners starting off the front marks who held their positions with Sandra easily beating the handicapper’s pre-race assessment of her and winning by 33 seconds. Our friend Ray Ambler whose father donated the trophy was there to watch the race, first competed for in 1947. Ray himself had won it in 1949.
