Marketing Assistant

JobTitle: Marketing Assistant (Three month fixed term contract)

Salary: £18,000per annum

Hours:37.5 per week

Purpose of Job:

To support the fundraising and marketing team in delivering short-term business needs within the department.

Main Tasks:

  • Tosupport the Interim Marketing Officer in sourcing cost effective and quality print and materials’ suppliers, to negotiate costs, timelines and delivery dates.
  • To support the Interim Marketing Officer in co-ordinating the delivery of artwork, starting by briefing the designers, to communicating amends to signing final artwork off on time and on budget.
  • To help update the charity’s website, social media and e-marketing channels
  • Copywriting and proofreading on a number of promotional materials, on and offline publications, the Thames Hospice website, press releases and communications notices and updates.
  • To send press releases and to support the Interim Marketing Officer in acting as a media gatekeeper, responding to enquiries from journalists and maximising all media opportunities.
  • To manage the Thames Hospice video and photo library and photo consents records ensuring images are updated regularly, reflective of the SSC mission and have the required consent for use.
  • To monitor expenditure and agreed outputs on a monthly basis, remaining within budget. To ensure financial and supporter and other contact records are maintained, up to date and accessible.

In addition, as the demands of the Thames Hospice rebrand project permit there may be opportunities to work with the Fundraising & Marketing department to support other initiatives.

Person Specification

Specialist Knowledge and Experience

Able to demonstrate experience of working in a marketing / communications / project officer role; or alternatively an administrative, customer service role with marketing/ communications, or business qualification background.

Organisation

Ability to organise time effectively, creating work schedules, prioritising workload and meeting deadlines with excellent attention to detail and proof reading skills.

Using Initiative

Ability to responsibility for own actions and make decisions without referring to others, where appropriate.

Communication

Experience of communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, adapting style to suit the audience, including strong copywriting skills for publications, press releases and online information.

Team Working

Ability to develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.

Building Relationships

Ability to quickly build a rapport and establish professional relationships with others, based on trust and understanding.

Specific technical skills

-Experience of working on a website and online communications.

-Experience of developing print and online communications.

-Experience of Desktop Publishing package and Microsoft Office packages
