Risk Assessment Procedures – Clear Sky Associates - Yorkshire Three Peaks

The team at Clear Sky Associates staff undertake the risk assessment process on arrival at each day of an event to assess the current situation against the risk assessment produced in advance. A risk assessment has been undertaken for all activities and courses. The team ensure safety by assessing the current situation and weather forecast. Where applicable details of variable factors such as weather or changes to the venue that have not already been accounted for are considered and appropriate decisions are taken prior to the event.

Dynamic risk assessments

Issues that vary on a daily basis cannot always be included in the formal risk assessment so it is useful to undertake a dynamic risk assessment prior to departure.

Instructors are to undertake continuous dynamic risk assessments when they are working with their group. They should be constantly monitoring the weather, conditions, individuals and group. For safety reasons it is acceptable to alter the planned activity to an easier alternative. Such changes should have been anticipated before setting out and a note left on the route plan of possible alternative routes.
