RISK ASSESMENT FOR ACTIVITIES AND VENUE

Project/activity – ‘JUMPSTART’ / Assessed by (print name):-Oliver Payne
Venue: Broadland Housing, Dibden Road, Norwich, NR3 / Sign: / Date:December 2015
General Information:
Broadland Housing is a hostel for 24 homeless males, many who are current drug and alcohol users. The hostel is positioned in a residential area in the north of Norwich. The music activities provided by Musical Keys on a weekly basis are held in the activities room in the hostel (door adjacent to main reception). Musical Keys provide a two-hour music workshop where every resident of the hostel is invited to participate in creative activities. Two Musical Keys staff and one volunteer provide the sessions, two members of Broadland Housing staff are on site at given time. Our main points of contact are Fred White and Michael Collins – both can reached on 01603 413820.
The activity room acts as a corridor for bedrooms and so there are often residents coming in and out of the space. There is a private car park opposite the hostel.
A proportion of the residents at the hostel are current users of banned substances and are vulnerable, their actions may reflect this in the form of unusual behaviour or at its most severe, as aggression or abuse. MK staff must remain alert and to support one another although building rapport with residents must remain a priority.
