The next checkpoint is Saturday, August 16, 2003, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lake City, Florida 2000 points
Rally staff will be available at 5 a.m. for early check-in.
Time penalty begins 9:00:01 a.m. After 9:00:00 a.m. there will be a 2-point per minute penalty for being late. "Minutes" will be rounded up at one second past the key time. For example, 9:00:01 (one second past 9:00 a.m.) will be counted as 1 minute late. Any rider who arrives after 11 a.m. (11:00:01 a.m.) will not receive credit for making this checkpoint, will not receive bonus points for this leg of the rally, and may not collect bonus points for the next leg of the rally.
Bonus listings will be handed out at 11:00 a.m. for the next leg of the rally. Riders may depart upon receipt of paperwork.

500 points total to obtain points for fuel purchase records, riders must submit a receipt for every fuel purchase with the following information on the receipt: 1) location (city/town and state), 2) date, 3) time, and 4) volume (gallons or liters) purchased.
If any of the required information is not printed on a receipt, it must be hand written on the receipt. Any error in the printed date should also be corrected by hand. (Errors in the printed time need not be corrected IF YOU ARE KEEPING A FUEL LOG.) Also write the telephone number of the station on the receipt if you correct an error other than a time error. Motorcycles with a fuel capacity of 7.0 or more U.S. gallons also complete the "fuel log" sheet provided at the previous checkpoint. The fuel log requires all of the same information as required on receipts plus the odometer reading and the correct time the purchase was made. Remember that no points for fuel purchase records will be awarded to any rider that refuels between checking in and starting the next leg.

Take I-15 exit 40, marked Kolob Canyons, (Zion Nat'l Park). Follow the road east (and up!) approximately 5 miles until it ends. The road should be open 24 hours, but if it is closed, take a picture of the road closed barrier (made from two brown steel gates). The Visitor Center is open 7:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., and, if there during those hours, an entry fee is payable in the VC ($5 for solo rider). Outside of those hours, no fee is required. The road is open 24 hours.

In Florala, go to the intersection of US 331 and Alabama State Road 54 (SR-54). Go east 1.0 mile on SR-54, You'll pass a small street sign for Cedar Road. Immediately after you pass Mileage Marker 1 on SR-54, turn right onto the unmarked paved road. Just .2 mile on this road, you'll pass a Florida State Line sign. You are now on Florida State Road 285 (SR-285). Continue on SR-285 for .8 mile. The Florida state high point marker is in a small park on the right side of the road.
