Richview is not staffed by the TDSB to support an elite athlete or performer program. This means that RCI willnot make accommodations to their class, summative or exam schedules. Families should consider applying to a school that has been designated to accommodate such endeavours. Please speak to our Guidance staff for assistance.

S P O R T S P R O G R A M S

Richview offers students the opportunity of participating on school teams in the following areas: archery, badminton, baseball/softball, basketball, cheerleading, curling, cross country, football, golf, hockey, rugby, lacrosse, wrestling, soccer, tennis, track & field, volleyball, and swimming.

Code for Athletes

  • Athletes have a responsibility to maintain their academic performance
  • Athletes have a responsibility to the coach and other team members to attend tryouts, practices and games.
  • Athletes have a responsibility to Richview, its students and its staff, to represent our school with the best behaviour and conduct.
  • Athletes have the responsibility to learn the most they can about a sport, sportsmanship, communication and participation.
  • Athletes may participate in ONLY ONE team sport and/orindividual sport per season.

E L I G I B L I T Y

This policy is in place for all teams, activities and leadership programs. Teachers will monitor students’ progress and inform coaches/supervisors if a student’s progress is being affected by his/her participation.

1. A student’s membership is conditional until the Academic Eligibility

Committee has determined the student is full-time and has no failing

marks on the appropriate report card.

Fall teams/activities- the previous year June report card

Winter teams/activities- the November report card

Spring teams/activities - the February report card

2. A student must maintain satisfactory attendance, punctuality and responsible behaviour to remain eligible.

3. On the day of an event, participating students are expected to be in class

for the entire day up to the time of the early dismissal for the event.

4. A student who has failed ONE subject on the previous report card will

be notified of their probation status by the Academic Eligibility

Committee. The student will be monitored by the coach/supervisor. He/she

will remain eligible as long as conditions under #2 and # 3 are met.

5. A student with TWO failed subjects is ineligible. The student may ask the Academic Eligibility Committee for an appeal but they are not obliged to grant any appeal requests. Students in junior grade years 9 through 10 can appeal only once and in senior grade years 11 through 12 can only appeal only once. Students with more than two failures are ineligible and cannot appeal to the Committee.
