Welfare and Benefits update

This upcoming Friday, April 4, FA presidents will meet to discuss the results of the climate survey.

The outside consultant’s job will come to an end in May, but as of yet we aren’t sure when they will make their recommendations. The goal is to have DCCCD’s salaries benchmarked with the rest of the state.

Passing the Baton

Of the two planned “Passing the Baton” events, one will be held at Susan Miller’s home on April 26th at 6 pm. It is a potluck dinner and drinks event. The other event was cancelled.

Faculty will be presented with other times/activities in the fall to continue this budding tradition.

QEP Update

Carol Kent updated the faculty with the current status of the QEP for 2013-2014:

  • Process is moving along, and although they did encounter some bumps, overall it has been a good learning experience for the QEP Team. Right now the QEP involves only EDUC 1300, ENGL 1302, HIST 1301, GOVT 2306. While they are staying on track with the plan for first year, after this school year ends, modifications to the process will be considered. No faculty concerns were brought to the floor at this time.
  • Carol Kent and Matt Henry will attend a SACSCOC Institute this summer for more information.

Ready to Go

Concerns regarding the Ready to Go courses were brought up. Specifically, faculty are concerned that the courses have or may have bypassed the District Curriculum Committee.

Respectfully submitted,

Jennifer Millspaugh, Secretary
