Project Coordinator, Training and Policy

Summary:

The Project Coordinator will conduct research on various policy issues related to domestic violence and sexual assault, coordinate and assist with various program training, maintain and update the Coalition’s resource library and training materials, and assist in legislative activities. This full time position reports to the Director of the Training Project.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Conduct research and develop related materials such as fact sheets, policy papers, information packets and assist with curriculum development in order to meet the ANDVSA’s goals and objectives.

2. Coordinate trainings or public presentations related to policy and advocacy issues in order to ensure effective implementation of policies related to domestic violence and sexual assault.

3. Establish and maintain systems to track both training and legislative activities, conduct research on training and legislative issues, and assist with the training and legislative advocacy efforts of the Coalition.

4. Conduct research and develop strategies related to issues such as welfare reform, housing, economic self-sufficiency, health care, child welfare, substance abuse and immigration, etc. as they relate to policies and systems that effect victims of domestic violence.

5. Coordinate the implementation of the Training project; maintain database, produce a quarterly newsletter, coordinate trainings for project directors, and attend related meetings to ensure effective collaboration among staff and others.

6. Participate in statewide projects as necessary, represent the Coalition on committees and on task forces as needed, provide staff support to committees to ensure effective meetings, communication among member agencies and dissemination of minutes.

7. Work in partnership with other Coalition staff, member agencies, and others in order to meet the mission of the Coalition; other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:The Project Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, to provide training, technical assistance, policy research and support to domestic violence programs in Alaska. Specific job duties include research and data analysis, provision of specific training and technical assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS:BA degree in Education, Communications, Public Administration or related humanities field or four years equivalent work/volunteer experience. Experience with domestic violence programs preferred.

Understanding of domestic violence issues and facility in verbal and written communication skills required.

Proficiency in Word and Excel is required; familiarity with Access is a plus. Familiarity with non-profit domestic violence organizations operations is preferred.

Must be willing and able to travel

throughout Alaska. Applicant must have reliable transportation and be willing to use for work related purposes. EEO employer.

SALARY/HOURS:Full Time, non-exempt position; Monday thru Friday – 9-5 with occasional nights and weekends. $32,000.00 - $36,000.00 year to start DOE.
