Rhyl FCAcademy October’s Monthly News Letter
Hi All,
During September Rhyl FC Academy seen loads of positives made with plenty of fixtures being played in each age group. Here are the reports for each age group within the Academy.
Under 8s & 9s
The youngsters started September with a mini futsal tournament in CQ Nomads which is a great game for the player’s development. The following week they played a friendly fixture at home to Prestatyn Town Academy which both teams dominated playing some nice passing two touch football. The highlight of the month for the U8s was travelling to Colliers Park to play against Wrexham FC. On the night the boys did not play as well as hoped but a big learning curve was taken for all players which will hopefully help them in their Development. Under 9s faced Conwy Borough who remained unbeaten for the season the game was quite evenly matched but it was Conwy who took their chances in front of goal. Both 8s & 9s are developing well each week.
Under 10s & 11s
The boys started September with a fixture against CQ Nomads the boys played 9v9 which was a new experience for them but adapted very well to it. U10s struggled slightly losing the game 7-4 but continuing to play our style of football. Under 11s deservedly edged a great end to end winning 4-3. The following week both sides play against Conwy Borough again U10s passed the ball round well winning the game 4-2. Under 11s were far too strong with some great football on display and great individual performances winning the game 10-0. The following week both sides played against Prestatyn Town Academy which both teams again dominated with U10s coming out 10-1 winners & U11s coming out 9-2 Winners. The end of the month seen the U10s play Llandudno Swifts where they continued there good run with a 9-4 win. Under 11s highlight of the month seen them travel down to Liverpool FC Academy for a friendly fixture. The evening was a great experience for the boys which seen them play some great football again losing the game 11-5.
Under 12s
The U12s began their 1st competitive season competing in the FAW Academy Cup. Their 1st game seen them travel away to Bala Town Academy in which they came out 4-2 winners. The boys didn’t play great on the day but none the less it was a good start to the season. They then faced a tougher test when Airbus UK Academy travelled down. The boys upped their game and play some great football working the ball into wide areas a creating numerous chances helping them to win the game 3-1. They then faced there 3rd Academy Cup match away to locals Prestatyn Town Academy the game was difficult for the lads as they had to adapt to Prestatyn style of football but none the less the boys showed great character to win 2-1 making it 3 wins from 3 in the FAW Academy Cup.
Under 13s
September seen the U13s play 4 friendly fixtures with the 1st coming against Flint Town Academy. On the day the boys struggled for a starting 11 with a number of players missing and 2 U12s in the starting 11. The game was very even Rhyl took the lead but Flint got themselves back in the game to win 2-1. There 2nd fixture seen them travel to CQ Nomads on the day it wasn’t the best performance from the lads with a number of mistakes losing the game 8-2. The following week seen massive improvement made from the lads playing some great football dominating the game against Bala Town coming out 9-0 winners. The highlight for the lads was a tough test against Chester City Academy the boys battled very well in a difficult game losing 3-0.
Under 14s
The 14s also began there FAW Academy Cup competition in September looking to come back with a positive start after narrowly losing in the final of the competition at U12s level. Positive start is exactly what they came back with beating Bala Town 3-0 in their opening game. In their 2nd game the lads adapted to difficult windy conditions beat Airbus UK 3-2. They then faced locals Prestatyn Town this was set to be a difficult test with 4 players missing from the squad. The lads showed great character and battled well to win the game 5-3 which also gives them 3 wins from 3 in the FAW Academy Cup.
Under 15s
The 15s play 5 friendly fixtures during September starting with a trip to Flint Town in which they dominated the match with some excellent football on display winning the game 8-2. They then faced CQ Nomads losing 3-0 to a very strong side. The following week they were home to Bala Town it was a difficult weekend as they boys held a 1-0 lead right until the last 5 minutes where they switched off losing the game 3-1. Positives were taken from the previous game though when defeated National Champions Airbus UK in a great game which they were deserved 2-1 winners. The last game of the month was a big challenge against Chester City Academy. Chester were a very well organised team and won the game 6-0 hopefully this will help the boys in there development though.
Under 16
The U16s were a newly formed team this season and have begun to show great promise for the future already they began September with a friendly fixture against Vauxhall Motors Academy in which they narrowly lost last minute 3-2. The 1stFAW Academy Cup match was away to Bala Town losing 5-2 in a closer tie than the result reflects. They then faced Airbus UK who are a very strong outfit who have been together for a number of years. The boys battled well in difficult conditions losing the game 7-2. The signs of the team coming together shown though as the lads played locals Prestatyn Town with their best performance of the season they won the game 4-1.
