Two “Supporting a Thesis Statement” worksheets and preliminary works cited page due. Students will continue to practice citing information using sandwich quotes in class. Students will also look at a sample counter argument paragraph and be given time to begin drafting their counter-argument paragraph in class. A typed, MLA formatted, rough draft of the counter argument paragraph is due Wednesday, 4/10/13.

Tuesday, 4/9/13

Students will continue to practice citing information using sandwich quotes in class. Students will be given time in class to draft their counter-argument paragraphs and continue their research.

Wednesday, 4/10/13

Students will self-edit the rough drafts of the counter argument paragraphs and submit for comments. Students will look at a sample secondary argument paragraph. Students will have the hour to begin work on their secondary argument paragraphs. A typed, MLA formatted, rough draft of the secondary argument paragraph is due Friday, 4/12/13.

Thursday, 4/11/13

Students will continue to practice citing information using sandwich quotes in class. Students will be given time in class to draft their secondary argument paragraphs and continue their research.

Friday, 4/12/13

Students will self-edit the rough drafts of the secondary argument paragraphs and submit for comments. Students will look at a sample primary argument paragraph. Students will have the hour to work on their primary argument paragraphs. A typed, MLA formatted rough draft of the primary argument paragraph is due Monday, 4/15/13.

Monday, 4/15/13

Students will self-edit the rough drafts of the primary argument paragraphs and submit for comments. Students will look at a sample recommendation paragraph. Students will have the remainder of the hour to work on their recommendation paragraph. A typed, MLA formatted rough draft of the recommendation paragraph, conclusion and the works cited page is due Wednesday, 4/17/13.

Tuesday, 4/16/13

Students will examine a sample conclusion and works cited page.A typed, MLA formatted rough draft of the recommendation paragraph, conclusion and the works cited page is due Wednesday, 4/17/13. NOTE: The works cited page will be counted as a quiz grade.

Wednesday, 4/17/13

Students will self-edit their recommendation paragraph and conclusion. The rough draft of the works cited page will be checked in class as a quiz grade. Students will have one final opportunity to paper conference with Mrs. Fisher.

Thursday, 4/18/13

Students will have one final opportunity to paper conference with Mrs. Fisher.

Friday, 4/19/13

Final drafts of the essay are due! Please review your rubric for a list of all the materials that you need to submit with your essay. Make sure you submit your essay and other materials in a three tab folder—not a binder. If you are absent for any reason, you must e-mail your instructor your essay or have a parent bring it to school, and then submit the rest of the required submission materials on the day you return to class.
