Brief career history
I have been involved in University Administration and Management since 1991 and have worked for two previous institutions, Sheffield Hallam University and Leeds Metropolitan University before joining the University of Sheffield in April 2005 as the Research Support Manager in the School of Law.
I was appointed to the post as Departmental Manager in the Department Oncology in April 2013 and subsequently to the post of Department Business & Strategy Manager when the Departments of Oncology and Human Metabolism merged in 2015. In October 2015, I was also appointed as a Deputy to the Faculty Director of Operations, with specific responsibilities for strategy and planning.
Before joining the Faculty of MDH, I was the Departmental Administration Manager in the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering with effect from August 2006.
Whilst working in the Faculty of Engineering, I also become involved in Faculty matters as one of five Deputy Faculty Director of Operations. I Chaired the Faculty of Engineering Staff Development Group was also instrumental in the development and implementation of the Faculty Workload Allocation Model (WAM) and am currently working with the Faculty of MDH to develop a more integrated WAM system.
My current role is that of Departmental Business and Strategy Manager. In this role, I am responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the professional support service (secretarial/administrative) within the Department including research, development and maintenance of efficient and effective procedures; facilitating the opportunity for innovation and creativity in developing new processes and ensuring compliance with policy and protocol at the micro-departmental and macro-University/HEI level.
