Brief career history
Eight years in local authority at the start of my career. Moved into higher education in 1999. Worked firstly as a project manager, before becoming Assistant Director of the Office of Part-Time Education at the University of Leeds. I then took a sideways move to the School of Continuing Education, to manage their Wakefield site, following merger with the University of Leeds and Bretton Hall College.
I joined the University of Sheffield in 2007, as Manager for the School of Education. Left the School of Education to become Departmental Manager for both Town and Regional Planning and the Department of Geography in 2011. After a year of managing both departments and carrying out major reviews of professional service staffing structures, I had another switch of role, dropping Geography, but retaining the Dept of Town & Regional Planning (now Urbans Studies & Planning) Manager role for 0.5 FTE and being appointed to Deputy Faculty Director of Operations, with responsibility for HR and change management.
