RESUME OF ROBERT C. BURRELL
Robert C. Burrell is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin law firm of Borgelt, Powell, Peterson Frauen, S.C. with offices at 735 North Water Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been employed with that firm since 1971 as an insurance defense lawyer. His practice deals primarily with first party claims focusing upon fire and property insurance claims.
Mr. Burrell served as President of Civil Trial Counsel of Wisconsin during 1990-1991 and as Chairman of its Board during 1991-1992. He was President of the Wisconsin Arson Insurance Council during 1985-1986 and was later a member of its Board of Directors. He is the former President of the Mariner's Club of Wisconsin (a property insurance organization). Mr. Burrell is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, of the International Association of Defense Counsel, of the American Bar Association - Tort and Insurance Practice Section, of its Property Insurance Law Committee, and of the Defense Research Institute. He is a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators and of the Wisconsin Chapter of the IAAI. Mr. Burrell is a frequent speaker on fire insurance and related topics.
He became a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) in 1997, and is now a member of the Greater Milwaukee Chapter CPCU Board of Directors.
Mr. Burrell recently served as Associate Editor of the treatise entitled "The Law of Damages in Wisconsin", published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is the author of the Punitive Damages Chapter of that book and was co-author of the article "Insurability of Punitive Damages In Wisconsin", 62 Marq. L. Rev 1 (1978). Since 1990, he has served as Municipal Judge for the Village of River Hills, Wisconsin.
Mr. Burrell received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Northern Iowa in 1968 and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Iowa in 1971. He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the Bar of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and of the United States Supreme Court.
