Qualifications

Master’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
Valid certification in any Career & Technology Education subject area.
Five years successful teaching experience; three years in Brevard County preferred.
Valid Florida Driver License.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills, written and oral communication skills, extensive knowledge of teaching techniques, curriculum and staff development. Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources, evaluate and make recommendations. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other departments, demonstrate self-discipline and initiative, follow state and district guidelines.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions

Provide technical assistance and support to CTE programs.
Provide technical assistance in the development of new CTE programs as well as the maintenance of existing programs.
Develop program guides and other support materials as necessary.
Plan and implement professional development opportunities that address both current research and future instructional needs.
Demonstrate effective teaching techniques.
Maintain an awareness of current research and curriculum trends and disseminate information to personnel throughout the district.
Maintain a log of project activities, which met accountability requirements of the Carl Perkins Federal Vocational and Technical Education Act.
Serve on committees to support the development of curricular/programs.
Assist in locating additional resources and in the development of grants as available and appropriate.
Provide oversight to ensure successful implementation of projects and activities.
Responsible for developing and monitoring project budgets and accurate related reports.
Coordinate selection and distribution textbooks, instructional materials, and technology.
Travel to schools and provide technical support and expertise to personnel for curriculum innovation.
Serve as a liaison to appropriate outside agencies.
Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking of students.
Use appropriate Instruction strategies and materials that reflect each student's culture, learning styles, special needs and socioeconomic background.
Fulfill the terms of any affected written contract and adhere to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida.
Monitor students in a testing environment.
Provide outstanding customer service and use positive interpersonal communication skills.
Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools Organizational Values.
Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.
