Responsible for:All staff regarding Safeguarding. The Wellbeing Team and Family Support Workers.

Purpose

  • To lead safeguarding and enhanced provision offer at both schools taking responsibility for

all aspects of safeguarding and child protection

  • To develop and manage the enhanced provision offer to address the needs of our population in order to assess and develop the readiness of each individual to learn
  • To influence the strategic vision and the operational practise of both schools at a senior leadership level

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To act as designated person for safeguarding and leader of the safeguarding team
  • To develop the school offer with regards to the Early Help Offer (EHO) and section 17 and section 47 practises
  • To ensure that all safeguarding and child protection procedures , protocols and practices for both schools go beyond effective
  • To develop and use a safeguarding audit, including the PREVENT risk assessment and policy, to ensure that practices go beyond effective
  • To lead on all aspects of preventing radicalisation in accordance with the PREVENT Duty Guidance for England and Wales and the Channel Duty Guidance
  • To develop and be accountable for an improvement plan that takes safeguarding beyond effective
  • To manage and advise staff regarding safeguarding concerns
  • To act as the investigating officer (IO) in all and any safeguarding allegations made against staff, students or any other stakeholder
  • To attend and if necessary chair all meetings relating to safeguarding and child protection
  • To liaise with all external agencies regarding the role e.g. LADO, police, social care, health services etc.
  • Be responsible for updating all policies regarding safeguarding and child protection (CP) and PREVENT
  • Ensure that all staff receive the required CPD in safeguarding and CP in liaison with the CPD leads from both schools
  • To attend and if necessary chair all meetings regarding Looked After Children (LAC) e.g. PEP, LAC reviews
  • To liaise as appropriate with the virtual school regarding the LAC pupil premium spend
  • To coordinate all paperwork and reports regarding the above
  • To develop an effective relationship with the Safeguarding/Child protection LAB Member. To ensure that LAB Members are fully aware of the safeguarding protocols and procedures for both Schools
  • To report to the Local Academy Board Members regarding safeguarding and CP
  • Ensure that all LAB Members receive up to date and relevant training as required regarding safeguarding, child protection and PREVENT
  • To develop the internal enhanced provision (therapeutic) platform for both schools and act as the gatekeeper to these services
  • Ensure that all staff receives relevant CPD regarding enhanced provision e.g. developmental trauma, emotional literacy, co regulation etc.
  • To develop and manage the referral system to enhanced provision in conjunction with the behaviour leads/SENCOs/Inclusion Manager for each school
  • Manage referrals to all external agencies in conjunction with the SENCOs/Inclusion Manager from both schools
  • Liaise with the Teaching, Learning and Assessment leads from both schools to address any concerns raised via data analysis of student progress and make referrals to enhanced provision as necessary
  • To ensure capacity exists within the staff teams of both schools to deliver enhanced provision
  • Develop and be accountable for an improvement plan that ensures identified students have access to appropriate enhanced provision which has a measurable impact in terms of progress
  • To be responsible for any budgets the role might accrue
  • Any other reasonable duties under the direction of the Executive Headteacher

  • Degree or relevant equivalent qualification
  • Relevant professional qualification e.g. CQSW
