Purpose of Job:

Tosupport individual projects within the Accents Programme and secure project members, funding, partners and opportunities from inside and outside Poplar HARCA.

The award-winning Accents Programme aims to bring about a new, sustainable approach to regeneration in East London and further afield, which creates genuinely and permanently mixed communities.

Predominantly focussing on Poplar’s social, cultural and economic regeneration, Accents seeks to maximise the wealth of new and under-used opportunities and assets, bringing genuine value, financial and otherwise, to an area, its evolving community and stakeholders.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the formation, funding and delivery of individual projects across Accents, in line with the Accents aims and philosophy
  2. Support the research, championing and delivery of new, creative, and cutting-edge delivery modelsfor Accents projects across the organisation
  3. Work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and outsideto influence and inspire employeesand local peopleto deliverthe Accents Programme
  4. Support the development ofpartnershipswith outside agencies, to ensure the successful delivery ofthe Accents agendas
  5. Actively recruit potential Accents project members from across Poplar HARCA and externally
  6. Help secure fundingamounting to at least 3 times the allocated salaryto progress individualAccents work streams, including core and overhead cost cover
  7. Help develop business cases forindividual Accents projects to ensure sustainability and value for money
  8. Support the management ofindividual projectbudgets ensuring value for money delivery through financial planning
  9. As required,co-ordinateindividual volunteers
  10. Act as a role model and exemplar to staffin terms of the Accents agenda
  11. Contribute to acontinuouslybuilding strategic vision for the Accents Programme with the Accents Team
  12. Contribute to the formal reporting on Accents annual performance
  13. Assist the Accents Team with facilitating and engaging the Poplar Placemaking Group and any other internal or external reporting structures
  14. Promoteand publicisetheactivitiesofthe Accents programmewhenever and however possible,locally andbeyond Poplar, to ensure both the area andorganisationbuild reputations for Accents activity and philosophy
  15. Work with CAN’s Volunteer Co-ordinator to maximise the input of volunteers to Accents projects
  16. Work outside the Accents Team and organisation if required, to help deliver Accents projects

Some Specific Workstreams:

  1. Work with Accents colleagues to deliver elements of the Open Poplar programme (
  2. Support Accents colleagues to deliver the Fashioning Poplar project, building a £5.5m fashion hub with the London College of Fashion in Poplar
  3. Co-ordinate the volunteers for the V&A Lansbury Micro-Museum
  4. Support the delivery of an air quality programme commissioned by LB Tower Hamlets

General

  • Perform other duties as may be reasonably required by your line manager.
