Responsible to:Deputy Faculty Head

Context Statement:

The Faculty Head/Deputy Faculty Head will from time to time, through the Performance Management Review system and through timetabling processes, prepare a schedule detailing the specific areas of work / programmes for which the Lecturer will be responsible. The Faculty Head/Deputy will amend this schedule as and when it is necessary to meet the demands of the Corporation and to maintain flexibility within the Faculty. This will be done in such a way as to fairly distribute the workload amongst all Lecturers.

Responsibilities:

For the specific areas of work / programmes outlined in the schedule prepared by the Faculty Head/Deputy faculty Head, the lecturer will carry out the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Support learners through their programme and the specific qualification aims within.
  • Write schemes of work and lesson and review plans.
  • To devise and implement a learning and assessment plan for each individual learner.
  • To devise and produce materials for use by learners
  • To manage the formal assessment process to include maintenance of all assessment records
  • Be flexible in the delivery of education and training
  • Ensure completion of portfolios, coursework, own work and all other programme related student outputs within the scheduled scheme
  • Liaise with all stakeholders (internal and external) to deliver programme
  • For work based delivery aspects of a programme carry out reviews in a timely fashion, which include:
  • liaison with employers
  • the incorporation of functional skills
  • additional learning support arrangements
  • the overall assessment plan
  • To manage learning programmes and act a Course Leader as required.
  • To agree SMART targets with learners and where applicable, employers
  • To undertake tutorial and pastoral roles with learners
  • Maintain confidentiality rules in respect of the learner and their workplace
  • Manage the learner disciplinary and rewards process
  • Liaise with Student Support Services, College Information Systems, Employer Responsive Team as appropriate to the needs of learners
  • To maintain a management tracking system for learners in accordance with College guidelines
  • To ensure quality assurance systems comply with internal and external standards specifically in relation to :
  • External Verification
  • internal verification
  • review and evaluation
  • self-assessment

Programme validation:

  • Work to agreed recruitment protocols to ensure only appropriate learners are enrolled on programmes and that a support plan is in place for each learner.
  • Participate in marketing courses if required
  • Implement the College’s Equality Policy at all times
  • To apply the college’s own safeguarding policy and practices by reporting any accidents/incidents according to College procedures
  • Carry out ongoing Health & Safety checks and update records as necessary
  • Attend meetings on a regular basis
  • Undertake other duties as required by Faculty Head/Deputy

At all times:

  • Uphold the values and behaviours of the College and adhere to College policies and deadlines when carrying out the functions of a Lecturer e.g. Staff duty rota
  • Promote equality and diversity and safeguarding in line with College Policies.
  • Deputise for the Deputy Faculty Head from time to time
  • Carry out all tasks associated with the performance management Review (PMR) system and be accountable for the performance targets set in the PMR.
  • Take an active role in identifying and planning their own professional development

Other Reasonable Duties
