APPENDIX 3 - CDG

RESOURCE PROFORMA FOR COURSE APPROVALS AT PARTNER INSTITUTIONS WHERE THE PANEL ARE UNABLE TO VIEW THE PHYSICAL RESOURCES

As part of the Course Approval documentation requirements, the Head of School (or nominee) is required to provide a report on the appropriateness of the resources available to support the delivery of the course at each partner institution. The report is required in addition to a completed and signed Course Resource Audit Form in respect of each institution. Please note that a similar statement will also be required if the programme is to be delivered at a campus other than the Preston one. The following headings provide guidance as to the areas to be covered within the report:

Facilities

  • Assessment of any specific facilities required for this programme – egequipment specifications, software required, access to facilities for students, etc.
  • Expected student numbers for this course at each institution, and the pressure this will place on facilities it is likely they will be used by other courses.

NB:If any shortfall in facilities is identified by the Dean/Head of School (ie additional equipment requirements) then a statement to be produced by the senior management at the partner institution as to how this will be addressed.

Library and Learning Resources

  • Assessment of books and other resources required to deliver the programme, eg mapping of book stock against module reading lists.
  • Indication of library spend at each partner institution to support the programme -from the member of staff charged with the responsibility to allocate funds at the partner institution.

Staffing

  • Staff CVs mapped against each module to verify there is appropriate expertise and adequate cover to deliver each module.
  • An indication of whether staff are full-time, part-time, fractional, etc.

NB:If any shortfall in staff is identified by the Dean/Head of School (ie additional recruitment) then a statement to be produced by the senior management at the partner institution as to how this will be addressed.

Local Industry Link

  • For Foundation degrees engagement of local employers/industry is required. A statement should be produced from each partner institution regarding the liaison that has taken place.
  • Information on the strategies to be used by the partner institutions to attract part-time students/full-time employees from within the local industry.
