Resolution to Confirm Brent Cross
Background:
Chairman Jim Maskeri accepted former Board Member Dion Broughton’s resignation from the 2012-2013 SORF Board on Monday, August 27th. As per Article II, Section 4(D) of the SORF Bylaws, the Chairman and Advisor worked to find a replacement. Two emails were sent to all of Treasurers, Presidents, and Authorized Agents of RSOs at UIUC, with a request that they forward the application to their members. Twenty students applied for the position, four were offered an interview, and Brent Cross was selected as the nominee. Mr. Cross’s application statement is attached to this resolution.
Resolution:
Be it Resolved by the Student Organization Resource Fee Board, that upon nomination of Chairman Jim Maskeri, Brent Cross be hereby confirmed as a full voting member of the 2012-2013 SORF Board to serve out the remainder of former Board Member Dion Broughton’s term, and
Let it further be Resolved, that Brent Cross be required to fill out the appropriate paperwork to be in compliance with the SORF Bylaws before being granted voting authority, and
Be it finally Resolved, that this resolution go into effect upon the adjournment of the Fall 2 Allocation Meeting.

Brent Cross Application Statement:
During my time at the University of Illinois I've been involved with a great deal of
registered student organizations. I've been in groups that were well managed and were
beneficial the University as well as the community of Champaign/Urbana, but I've also been at
meetings for groups where there was next to no leadership and the only idea's were for what
food to provide at the next meeting. My time as a treasurer for Order of Omega, a registered
student organization and more specifically a Greek honor society, has given me far greater
insight into how these different factions of groups develop. Order of Omega and myself in
particular have been working with the Director of Greek and Sorority Affairs to develop the
society into a group that fits in the first category. Because of this, I understand the financial
aspects of that process and how proper funding and use of those funds can truly determine
which category a group falls in to. My intention, as a member of the SORF Board is to use this
experience to guide my decision-making and continue to work with registered student
organization leadership to understand their particular issues and map out ways that they can
become financially sound.
