Research Seed Corn funding

Research policy in the School of management places particular emphasis on developing research careers. In order to further strengthen support for research active staff, the Executive Team has agreed to provide some targeted Research Seed Corn Funding. This fund will provide research funding of up to £2000 over a period of a year.

Eligible Staff:

This fund is primarily aimed at academic staff who are probationers or are in the two years immediately following probation. However, applications from anyone who is not a Professor will also be considered in the two years following appointment at the School of Management.

Staff will be restricted to one successful application.

Successful applicants will be expected to provide a one page report at the end of the award period.

Eligible Expenditures:

The fund is designed to support research expenditures. Typical examples include interview/survey expenses, relevant software or database access. Applicants should identify and cost all planned expenditures in their application.

Conference attendance and computer hardware are not included and should be funded through established budgets in the School of Management.

Applications: Applicants should provide a brief description of the proposed research activity including aims; methods and contribution (see attached form). Early career applicants are advised to consult with their research mentor during the preparation of the proposal and to clearly identify how a successful award will contribute to their research and publication strategy (key outlets should be identified).

Research Seed Corn Funding: Application Forms

All applications will be considered by a sub-group of the Research Committee, who will make the final decision on awards. Completed applications must be received by 28th February 2017 with notification of success by end of March.
