Research Paper Final Draft : Rubric
1. Revised Outline included and amended as necessary
2. Paper meets standards put forth by MLA:
§ The paper is at least eight pages long (must be ten pages to use for senior project)
§ The paper is double-spaced from beginning to end
§ The paper is written in size 12 Times New Roman font
§ The paper has one inch margins throughout
3. The first page of the paper (name, date, title, etc…) looks EXACTLY like the model on my website.
4. Citations
§ There is a sufficient quantity of citations; anything that is a borrowed IDEA or borrowed WORDS needs to be cited.
§ The citations in reflect the use of at least five of your sources, including one print source
§ The citations are properly formatted and punctuated
§ Each citation should directly lead the reader to its corresponding source on the Works Cited page.
4. Organization and Research
§ The introduction
o Hooks the reader
o captures the reader’s attention, presents personal stake and societal stake
o The thesis statement is clearly and succinctly stated at the end of the introduction
§ Body
o All body paragraphs have clear and direct topic sentences.
o A transition word or phrase is evident at the beginning of each new topic.
o The body paragraphs have neither too little nor too much information.
o TICQA followed
§ Conclusion
o The conclusion meets all expectations as outlined in my guidelines
§ The quality and quantity of the research is appropriate
§ The organization of the paper matches the organization put forth in the outline
5. Works Cited
§ Properly formatted
§ Sufficient and appropriate sources
6. Mechanics:
§ Words well chosen
§ Sentences well constructed and show variety
§ Verbs are varied
§ Paper contains a minimum of errors in the following areas:
o Punctuation
o Capitalization
o Spelling
o Agreement (subject/verb) and (pronoun/antecedent)
o Usage
