Request for Proposals for Use of St. John's Outreach Funds, 2016
The St. John's Outreach Team is inviting parishioners to submit proposals for using funds designated for outreach activities in the 2016 parish budget. A total of $4800.00 has been allocated for Outreach Grants which are intended to be efforts to address needs in the community, both local and global.
In asking for proposals from St. John's parishioners, we are relying on their passion, inspiration, experience, and imagination in specific ideas. It is envisioned that funds might be used to:
- address an urgent and unmet need in the community
- support a group of St. John's parishioners in conducting a project in the community
- help an existing St. John's outreach ministry to expand its activities
- support an outside organization with ties to St. John's or to a St. John's parishioner whose scale of work or geographical reach is greater than what we would be capable of alone
It is our hope is that these limited funds will have an impact in the community and within the Parish more meaningful and lasting than the immediate price of goods or services. Thus, to the greatest extent possible, we are hoping that these outreach funds can help create and strengthen personal connections.
General guidelines for proposals are as follows:
- Funds should be used for creating or strengthening a connection between St. John's and the local, national, or global community
- Funds can be used for a variety of needs, such as addressing poverty, isolation, the needs of children, the needs of the elderly, environmental stewardship, and more
- Proposals must be submitted by a St. John's parishioner
- Funds may be used for activities St. John's parishioners are (or will be) involved in directly, or parishioners may submit a proposal on behalf of an outside organization
- Funds may be used as general support for an organization or for a specific project
- If funds are to be used for a specific project or activity, it must occur by the Spring of 2017
- Proposals should not be dependent on St. John's financial support in subsequent years.
The process for allocating the $4,800 is as follows:
Proposal Applications will be available on the parish website and in the St. John's Communication Center beginning in May.
Completed applications will be submitted to the Outreach Grant Proposal Team by placing them in
the deacon's in-box in the church office or by emailing them to the deacon.
The team will consider the application as soon as possible after each proposal is received to review the proposal and make a determination about approving, amending or declining to approve the proposal.
The Vestry Liaison for Outreach will be given a copy of the proposal and the completed Grant Proposal Sign-off Page indicating the action taken and funds allocated, in order that the vestry can be informed at their next scheduled meeting.
