Job summary/purpose

Carries out inspections to ensure conformance to customer specifications, using eddy current testing equipment.

Key responsibilities

1.0 Inspection

1.1 Conduct MPI / weld inspections as required and ensure all relevant records are completed in accordance with procedures and systems in place.

1.2 Documents the completion and test results of non-destructive test process.

1.3 Ensure all tasks carried out meet specified requirements.

1.4 Carry out dimensional checks and adjustments.

1.5 Produce reports in support of quality investigations and audits.

1.6 Support the inspection team in other areas of the company as and when required.

1.7 Disseminate requirements of overhaul instructions and related documents.

1.8 Ensure that all work carried out is compliant with organisational quality management system.

1.9 Ensure accurate records are completed and maintained in accordance with procedures in place.

1.10 Demonstrate occupational competence in accepting and returning responsibility for the control of traction and rolling stock assets.

1.11 Maintain good housekeeping in work area.

2.0  General

2.1  Participateinteamandone­to­onemeetings,andundertake,asappropriate,courses/ training/ otherdevelopmentalactivities,relevanttotherole.

2.2 Keepuptodatewithdevelopmentswithinthe Company and other sector-wide practices, that0influencetheday­to­dayactivitieswithintherole,ensuringcompliancewithrelevantlegis-lationandanyotherrelevantinternal/externalfactors e.g. Company policies and procedures, quality management standards, Health & Safety.

2.2  Promote the organisation by whatever means are appropriate and available so as to ensure a positive image to customers/clients.

PCN level 2 Magnetic particle inspection (or equivalent) / ü
CSWIP 3.0 Visual weld inspection level 1 (or equivalent) / ü

Mechanical engineering experience / ü
Traction and rolling stock experience. / ü
Able to plan and perform highly precise measurements and inspections to assure compliance to relevant standards and other customer requirements. / ü
Able to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications etc. / ü
Knowledge of quality control and assurance techniques. / ü
Demonstrable experience of problem solving / trouble shooting. / ü
A self-starter, able to work under own initiative with minimal supervision. / ü
Able to work effectively as part of team and with others across the Company. / ü
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain complex information to non-specialist audiences. / ü
Excellent attention to detail. / ü
The abilityto maintain accurate records. / ü
Ability to understand information involving facts or situations, some of which require analysis and able to formulate solutions and recommend/decide on the best course of action where there are a range of options. / ü
Able to follow a pre-planned schedule of work. / ü
