CHAROLAIS CHAMPION SELLS FOR €5,300
AT THE LAST CHAROLAIS SOCIETY SALE FOR SPRING 2005.
Despite the large number of Charolais bulls already offered for sale this Spring, the breed continues to attract very good prices for their quality bulls. The top 50% of bulls sold averaged €3,000 whilst the other 50% averaged €1700 giving an overall average of €2350.
Top price of the sale went to the Champion Male LISLIN VALENTINO bred by new breeder, William Cahill, Rosehill, Mullagh, Kells, Co. Meath. By “Doonally New” and out of a dam by “Castlemartin Harvey” he sold for €5,300 to the Teagasc Research Centre, Johnstown Castle, Wexford.
Reserve Championship went to Patsy McCabe’s bull BLAKESTOWN VERSONIC, by his stock bull “Blakestown Seigneur” and out of an imported dam by “Flonflon”. He sold for €4000 to David Cosby, Ballycreen House, Aughrim, Co. Wicklow.
Top price in the female section went to the Champion ABEY THAT’S MAGIC, bred by Gerard Kerin, Abbey House, Belharbour, Co. Clare. By “Doonally Price” and out of home bred dam by “Knockane Flare” she sold for €3,100 to Thomas Bryne, Tinode, Hempstown, Blessington, Co. Wicklow.
Reserve Female Championship was won by Tony Bosquette, Castlenode, Strokestown, Co. Rosocmmon for his heifer “Knockane Ursala” by “Tennis” and out of a dam by “Kilnagross Gavin. She was unsold having failed to reach her reserve.
Average price for females was €1823 with a price range from €1200 to €3,100
