Introduction
background
- Vale of White Horse District Council held their latest Town and Parish Forumon 10 November2016 at The Beacon, Wantage.
- As well as providing information about the district council and a selection of public sector services the forum was an opportunity to discuss current issues and how organisations can work together to tackle them.
- The forum also provided towns and parishes with the opportunity to influence strategic thinking and operational practices and to meet with other parish councillors,district council staff,councillors and key partners. Appendix A is the forum programme.
- All the presentations and questions and answers have been uploaded to the Vale of White Horse District Council website.
- A networking session at the beginning of the forum provided the chance for delegates to visit service information stands provided by the council and public sector partners.
6.This was followed by formal presentations from the Council Leader and members of the council.
- At the end of the evening, delegates had the opportunity to put questions to cabinet members.
Attendees
- Everyforum we invite each of the 65 town and parishes in the district to send two representativesto the forum, therefore 130 representatives were invited for November 2016
- 40 representatives from 27towns and parishes attended. Appendix B contains a list of registered delegates who attended.Eleven representatives registered to attend, did not attend. 6 representatives attended having not sent a positive response to the invitation.
- Representatives from key partnership organisations such as Oxfordshire Association of Local Councils (OALC) attended. District councillors were offered the opportunity to join the forum and 2 did attend along with 4 of the Cabinet. A list of other invited guests and exhibitors (including their contact details) is provided in AppendixC.
- Staff and senior managers from the district council supported the running of the forum.
Forum proceedings
Presentations
- After the delegates convened for the main forum proceedings Councillor Matthew Barber, the leader of the council, gave a short introduction and welcome to delegates. This was followed by fourpresentations, copies of three of these are available on the Vale of White Horse District Council website.
- Each presentation was followed by a QA session, summaries of which are available on the Vale of White Horse website.
Q & A SESSION
- Cllr Matthew Barber asked for questions from the floor. Details of the questions posed and the responses are available on the Vale of White Horse website.
Forum feedback
- We asked delegates for feedback on the format and overall content of the evening to help plan for future events. The results are included in Appendix Dwith a summary of those we will take into account when planning for the November forum.

AppendixD – Forum evaluation results and feedback summary
The following data is based on 18 responses.
Only one person recorded being fairly dissatisfied with the Forum overall although no specific reason was given.
The chart below details the more specific responses we received.
There were a number of positive comments on both the EZ and planning presentations although one delegate thought all the presentations were too long.
There were also a number of suggestions made for agenda items for the next forum which will be considered further nearer the time.
