1.0ABSTRACT:

1.1Repair the watertight seal on the Staging Bay upper and lower monorail watertight hydraulic door which opens to the aft deck.

5.0NOTES:

5.1The Contractor and all Sub-Contractors, regardless of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the Contractor and all Sub-Contractors, regardless of tier, must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTR's including but not limited to GTR's 1 through 7 and 21 through 29. 5.2The Contractor and all Sub-Contractors, regardless of tier, are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work are found in Work Item 0001.

5.3Any additional work will require a Change Order (with costs associated) submitted to the Port Engineer for approval, before the additional work is performed.

5.4The Contractor must arrange for the attendance of ABS and / or the USCG for internal exams, inspections and any tests they may require regarding any repairs.

5.5Cost of ABS / USCG Inspections will be to the USMMI account.

6.0QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

6.1All work shall be completed in accordance with the guidance in the Manufacturer’s Technical Manual.

6.2All workmanship, materials and testing shall be in accordance with the latest ABS Rules for Building and Classing Steel Vessels. Quality Assurance requirements shall be in accordance with MSC GTR No 3 – Tests, Inspections, Trials and Certificates.

7.0STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:

7.1Arrangements / Outfitting:

7.1.1The Contractor is to remove the existing neoprene gasket.

7.1.2Prior to beginning any work on this item, review the condition reports in reference 2.1.4. Power tool clean all rust and mechanical damage found on the knife edge and the gasket channel and feather to tightly adhered paint in accordance with SSPC-SP-3 requirements.

7.1.3Have the area gas freed safe for hot work under specification 0052.

7.2Structural:

7.2.1The Contractor is to cut out approximately 4 linear feet of wasted metal in the gasket channel and approximately 4 liner feet of the knife edges and replace with new steel using reference 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 as guidance. Most of the wastage of the knife edge is located on the top of the doors.

7.3Mechanical / Fluid:

7.3.1After painting the Contractor is to provide and install a new neoprene gasket.

7.3.2The Contractor is to disassemble, clean and refurbish all of the dogs and adjust each in accordance with reference in 2.1.1 to achieve a water tight seal.

7.3.3The lower doors are to be temporarily removed and disassembled and the components are to be cleaned. Any parts which are defective are to be replaced by the contractor.

7.3.4The hydraulic hoses are to be removed and the connections temporarily capped. The contractor is to provide new replacement hoses from the manufacturer or fabricated to the same specifications as the original. Prior to installation the new hoses are to by hydrostatically tested at 3000 PSI.

7.7Inspection / Test:

7.7.1Inspection- The Contractor is to notify the ABS Surveyor and the USMMI Port Engineer for visual and NTD inspection of the welds. The Contractor is to notify the ABS Surveyor and the attending USMMI Port Engineer at least 24 hours in advance concerning these inspections.

7.7.2The Contractor is to conduct an operational test of the doors and then a chalk test in the presence of the ABS Surveyor and the USMMI Port Engineer. Once accepted the Contractor is to conduct a hose test at 40 PSI in the presence of the ABS surveyor.

7.7.3Any leaks are to be corrected at the Contractors expense.

7.7.4Preliminary Gas Free Certification

7.7.4.1In compliance with local port regulations regarding hot work, the Contractor shall certify and furnish gas free certification, "Safe for men and hot work", for the Staging Bay and passageway.

7.7.4.2Post gas free certificates at the gangway and deliver three (3) copies to the USMMI representative.

7.7.4.3Daily Certification: A certificate of endorsement, attesting to "safe for men / safe for fire conditions," shall be issued twice daily. Copies of all certificates shall be provided to the USMMI Representative and posted at the gangway.

NOTE:Gas Free Certification will be accomplished under Work Item 0052

7.8Painting:

7.8.1Coating Requirements after achieving proper surface preparation. Reference 2.1.3 specification 0002, SSPC-SP 3.

7.8.1.1One full coat at 4-6 mils DFT using Amercoat 240 Red Oxide on all new plate and any areas where the paint was disturbed or required mechanical cleaning.

7.8.1.2One full coat at 4-6 mils DFT using AmershieldWhite top coat.

7.9Marking: None additional

8.0GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

8.1The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, staging and tools required to accomplish this specification, except as specified in Section 4.0.

8.2The Contractor shall remove and reinstall interferences as necessary to accomplish this work item.

8.3Inspection and acceptance of all work shall be by the Chief Engineer and the designated On-site USMMI representative (Port Engineer).

8.4No additional work is to be accomplished without prior written approval by the Contracting Officer, Purchasing Manager or USMMI Port Engineer. The USMMI Contracting Officer, USMMI Purchasing Manager or USMMI Port Engineer is the only person authorized to give the Contractor authorization to proceed with growth or new work. The USMMI Port Engineer is the single point of contact authorized to address technical questions.

8.5A Completion of Work Report describing all work that was performed will be delivered to the Port Engineer upon completion of all work.

8.6All areas involved in work or traversed by workmen or equipment shall be left clean and in good order.
