Re: Governor Corbett’s Budget

Dear Representative Clymer:

I am writing to you about the Governor Corbett’s budget. I work in Montgomery County as a Mental Health Advocate I enjoy my job and helping others, I live in Bucks County with my wife and my three sons. My oldest son’s wife just had a baby girl so I just became a grandfather. I am enjoying being a Pop Pop.

I have been working in the mental health care for seventeen years now and I am very happy with my career choice I have made in my life. However I just received some very bad news this morning from our Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities office that Governor Corbett’s budget plan passes by your House of Representatives. It’s going to cut 6 million dollars from are Montgomery County Mental Health Budget. This would be a big impact onare services, it will not only cut jobs, it will affect people lives who are receiving mental health services.

If this budget plan passes I will not have to worry about my job because my agency would down side, and I am sure I’ll be the first to go because I have been here the longest. And I really don’t think my wife would be too happy.

However, I am worried about the individuals who we work with. What will happen to the many people who really need these services? What happens when programs have toclose their doors? Mental Health services are so important to us here in Montgomery County we enjoy helping and changing people’s lives around.

So why is this so important me? Well I once was a person who needed mental health services and people there too helped me get my life back on track and I will always be grateful for their help. Because what they have done for me, I am able to see my children grow up, live in a beautiful home with my loving wife and now see my new granddaughter.

I don’t know how hard your job is, or the hard decision you have to make. However, I am asking please don’t make this decision to pass the Gov. Corbett’s budget plan - just say no. My wife and I would like to say thank you for taking some time to read this letter and enjoy your day.

Sincerely,
