REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTIONS (RDC)
Using Remote Desktop, you can run applications on a remote computer with a Windows or Mac operation system.
Barry is server running Windows 2003, along with terminal services, to enable Remote Desktop connections from anywhere on the Internet.
A connection to Barry will allow you to perform many of the clinical tasks remotely.
Using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, click on the link at http://depts.washington.edu/uwerad/links.html to connect to terminal services.
You can log on to Centricity PACS, Centricity RIS-IC, Mindscape, Orca, and others. If using Nuance PowerScribe 360, all reports will have to be typed manually.
Statler is similarly setup at UWMC but requires special permission from the UW Radiology IT group to log in as well as an AMC login. Place a ticket with the ITS helpdesk to ask for permissions.
- Click on the RDC Statler (UWMC) or Barry (HMC)
- You will be automatically connected to the specified server where you can log in using your AMC account
- Note: You may be prompted to install the Microsoft terminal services ActiveX plug-in.
- You can use the Remote Desktop Connection on your computer to access Barry directly, without opening the Harborview Radiology links page. Can be used for Macs.
- Enter barry.rad.washington.edu into the computer field or use the IP address in the computer field. Barry’s IP address is barry.rad.washington.edu
- You may need to increase the Remote desktop size Colors to Highest Quality (32 bit) if you are having problems viewing gray scale or all the colors.
- Click on the Windows Start button on the Remote connection and log off.
