2015 OCOEE OUTREACH OVERVIEW
Remember: Ocoee is not a vacation, and Ocoee is not a week of work. It is a Mission Trip.
March 22 - Church Promotion / INFO Meeting after service in adult Sunday School Room
April 19 - $50 Deposit and Covenant Paper Due (p. 29)

· Place in DESIGNATED OCOEE DEPOSIT ENVELOPE AND PLACE IN KURT WAGNER’s MAIL BOX!
· No fundraising money may be used here. This deposit is a commitment from each individual.
Ocoee Participants Meeting - TBD
May 24 - DEADLINE FOR WHITE WATER RAFTING ON OCOEE RIVER…
· There must be at least 2 adults (21+) signed up, and one person must be able to drive and secure a vehicle for white water rafting.
· Signing up for white water rafting is a reservation. If you decide to back out during the trip, you may still be required to pay the approx. $30 fee.
· Please see Kurt if you want to go.
June 7 - Trip Balance ($189.00) & Medical Release Form Due (p. 30)
· Youth Notify Kurt Prior to this weekend if you would like to use fundraising money for the trip!

June 20 - PACKING DAY
· Be prepared! Have your main bag at the church between 9:00 -10:00 AM to pack in the trailer. Use a spate travel bag for items you need during the trip.
· If you are packing in your own vehicle, notify Kurt prior to this day.
June 21 - MEET AT CHURCH TO DEPART (2:30 AM)
June 27 - RETURN FROM TENESSEE (around 6:00 PM)
AFTER YOU HAVE TURNED IN YOUR COVENANT FORM AND DEPOSIT:
SIGN UP FOR THE FOLLOWING OPPORTUNITIES!
o Youth Chaperone: ARE WILLING TO BE THE SECOND YOUTH CHAPERONE FOR FRIDAY’s ACTIVITY DAY. WE MUST HAVE AT LEAST 1 MORE ADULT!
o Youth-Let Devotion: ONE YOUTH TO LEAD EVENING DEVOTIONS.
o Adult-Led Devotion: ONE MAN FROM OUR GROUP TO LEAD IN DEVOTIONS.
o DRIVERS: We only have 15 seats in the Van. Who is willing to drive to Ocoee?
o TRUCK: IS ANYONE WILLING TO PULL THE HELPING HANDS TRAILER WITH THEIR TRUCK?
o NEEDED FOR ROOF SIGHT: TRAILER ORGANIZER! It is not Kurt’s job to put all the tools away. This year we will have a designated trailer person. You will need determine a date with Kurt to learn where the tools go in the trailer!
o MORNING ICE CREW: Strong young men and women needed to keep coolers full of ice and fill water jugs.
o Picture Person: This person is responsible for taking and collecting photos and compiling them into a slide show. This doesn’t mean you skip out on all the work though.
Volunteer for these roles via Kurt, the Ocoee Sign up, or at the Meeting.
Expense Overview
· Total Cost to Ocoee Outreach - $239
· Deposit - nonrefundable but transferrable $50 deposit is due by April 27 and should be paid at the time you sign up! NO FINDRAISING MONEY CAN BE USED FOR THIS PORTION OF THE EXPENSE!
· Remaining balance - $139 remaining balance is due June 2
· All Payments should be exact change and checks made payable to Thompsontown Baptist Church
· Extra expenses - usually consists of 5 - 6 meals including all meals on Sunday, Friday’s supper, and lunch/snacks on Saturday’s return trip. We will go to Walmart to pick up extra drinks, snacks or forgotten items.
· Additional Charges will be applied for anyone who specifically requests 3 persons per room ($95) or 2 persons per room ($185).
REVIEW, SIGN, and Submit PAPERWORK ON TIME! (to Kurtis Wagner’s church mailbox)
· Ocoee Outreach Team Member Covenant - Due upon signing up for Ocoee! (p.29)
· Permission form - Due at least 2 weeks prior to trip. (p.30 this will vary in previous years)
· You may pick up any medical/photo and video permission forms in the church literature display by the front door of the church. It is your responsibility to fill in your information and hand this in on time (SEE TEAM MEMBER COVENANT PAPER). Old permission forms will be available in a folder in Kurt’s office. If you would like to update an old form YOU may do so.
· Review and be willing to follow the Participant and/or Adult Expectations (p. 27-28).
Friday afternoon activities
Activities are optional and may add to an individual’s expense.
· Whitewater rafting - this requires at least 2 adults, one being and willing able to drive. Those interested will be responsible for securing a vehicle for this. (See Kurt for the names of people driving) This will take about 6 hours on Friday afternoon. Please sign up on the activity sheet. This activity depends on number of participants. Also, If you are signed up you CANNOT back out during the trip unless you are physically unable to go because this is a reservation. If you decide you don’t want to go, you may be responsible to pay the fee anyway. You will need to make a decision by June 2. Cost - approximately $30.00

· Waterfall/Lake – Last year we travelled up an exciting Mountain Road to a state park area with a 2 mile hike to a picturesque waterfall and small lake with swimming available. No cost if we do this activity.
· Blue Hole - Go swimming in a large swimming hole located at the 1994 Olympic Whitewater rafting site. Ask a youth who went last year or Kurt. There is no extra cost to this activity.
· In the past some adults have visited Chattanooga and other area attractions. This is at the discretion of individual Adults, but there must be enough available transportation.
