1Overview

This document covers the Relius Administration 7.3 Internet Server powered by Windows 2000’s Internet Information Services. To install Relius Administration 7.3, please refer to the Relius Administration 7.3 Installation and Configuration document. All references to the Relius Administration 7.3 Internet Server will be hereinafter called RA Web.

This document also covers the Relius Administration 7.3 Customer Service Representative module, hereinafter called RA CSR. Both products can be installed to the same server, or each to a separate server, depending on corporate standards, security restrictions, or individual preference. Only those modules for which you are licensed will be activated.

The installation of the RA Web/CSR involves the following basic procedures:

1)Read and understand the entire document before beginning.

2)Ensure Relius Administration 7.3 is installed and fully functional at each workstation.

3)Install Windows 2000, IIS, Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or higher, and all related components required to connect to the Internet.

4)Install the Web/CSR software.

5)Install MDAC, Microsoft .NET, the Oracle Client, and necessary components.

6)Run VRU scripts against databases.

7)Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher to workstations that will access CSR.

8)Test the Web/CSR.

2Installation and Environment Considerations

2.1Program File Location

SunGard Corbel requires using the default locations for files to be installed. You will need your 6-character client ID (ABC123 format), the special Product Key Code provided, and the TCP/IP address of your database server before beginning.

2.2Installation Methods

RA Web/CSR software is only available on CD-ROM. A local CD-ROM drive is recommended and supported. Other methods of installing (network volumes, shared CD-ROM drives, “push” or “ghost” technology, Z.E.N. Works, Zip Drives, etc.) are not supported or recommended.

If a remote, shared CD-ROM drive is used to load Relius Administration, it must be mapped with a drive letter assigned. Running the Relius Administration 7.3 SETUP.EXE from a CD-ROM accessed by browsing with Network Neighborhood will fail.

2.3Software fixes via Internet

Fixes and support files will be generally distributed via the Internet at Users must have Internet capability to receive these fixes. Visit our web site ( and click “subscribe” to receive notification of new fixes by e-mail. SunGard Corbel does not send patches and updates through the mail. SunGard Corbel strongly urges that all users subscribe to this service. Updated documents can be obtained at ftp://ftp.sungardcorbel.com/administration/ra73/docs.

2.4Virus Scanners

Although SunGard Corbel does not endorse, support, or recommend any particular method, virus protection is encouraged on servers and workstations. The two most popular are Symantec’s Norton Anti-Virus and McAfee VirusScan by Network Associates. You should update your virus definition files regularly. Norton's "Script Blocking" option can cause problems on web servers. Clients using Norton with Script Blocking turned on should test the functionality of RA Web application to determine whether script blocking is affecting our Active Server Pages. Clients should consider disabling virus-scanning software, install RA Web, test the application, and then enable virus scanning.

Some virus scanners – if active during the installation – can interfere with a successful installation. Symptoms include an error message stating that a file cannot be overwritten. Temporarily disable virus scanning before starting the installer.

2.5Windows 2000 Server Considerations

The Windows 2000 Server Administrator must run the installation. SunGard Corbel requires the use of the default Administrator. For more information, please call Technology Support.

2.6Network Protocol

Oracle no longer supports the SPX protocol. TCP/IP is the only protocol supported by SunGard Corbel. The database server must have a static TCP/IP address. Workstations can have a TCP/IP address automatically assigned, but SunGard Corbel recommends static TCP/IP addresses on the workstation. For more information, please see visit or see your network administrator. You will need to enter the TCP/IP address of the database server during the installation.

2.7Upgrading from a previous version

This installation only covers new installations of RA Web for Relius Administration 7.3. To upgrade from previous versions, you must run the “Service Pack” upgrade, available from our web site.

2.8Free Disk Space

During this process, your VRU databases will be rebuilt to accommodate the newest features of the Relius Administration 7.3 VRU and Web products. Because of these enhancements, the VRU databases will contain more information and will be much larger. You will need to have at least 2 to 4 GB of additional free space on your database server’s “data drive” before beginning.

2.9Database Alias Names

All references to the database assume the aliases and SIDs are identical. Examples below:

  • The Oracle SID of QTDB needs to have the alias of QTDB.
  • The Oracle SID of VRU1 needs to have the alias of VRU1.
  • The Oracle SID of VRU2 needs to have the alias of VRU2.
  • Hardware and Software Requirements

All hardware requirements are specified in Appendix A of this document.

  • Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or higher.
  • TCP/IP Network Protocol for multi-user systems. TCP/IP must have a static IP address on the database server.
  • Internet Information Services must be installed and set up.
  • Minimum video resolution of 800 x 600 with 256 colors.

3Installing the Windows 2000 Server Internet Options

Installing the Internet Options should be followed with the guidelines set forth by Microsoft. It is the responsibility of the client to ensure that their legal copy of Windows 2000 Server is obtained and installed correctly. Further information on installing the Operating System can be obtained from Microsoft’s web site (

Security of the web server is the responsibility of the client. Although SunGard Corbel does its best to provide reliable products and services, SunGard Corbel only provides the web application for a client’s use. Security of a web server is normally provided through the Operating System and a third-party security provider. Clients should use best diligence to keep a site as secure as possible without causing the web site to fail.

3.1We recommend but do not support or assist with obtaining, installing, or configuring Secure Socket Layer (SSL).

3.2We recommend but do not support or assist with obtaining, installing, or configuring a firewall or proxy server.

3.3We do not certify or support the sites operation with non-Windows (Mac, Linux, WebTV, etc.), third-party, restricted, or modified browsers.

3.4The client is responsible for ISP and Domain connectivity.

3.5The site is flexible and customizable but Relius Administration Technology Support does not provide assistance with performing customization or modification. SunGard Corbel offers custom web programming services ranging from appearance changes to custom functionality. To request more information on these services please visit

3.6SunGard Corbel does not certify, support, or recommend any specific firewall, proxy server, security configuration, etc. Clients may configure the hardware to meet their security concerns provided:

  1. The server must be able to MS-DOS ping from the web server to the database server and vice-versa.
  2. Periodic IIS hot fixes, patches, security updates, and MDAC updates are not tested or certified for use with the server. Clients can implement these updates, but are expected to perform a backup prior to implementation in the event modifications interfere with the site’s operation.
  3. Sites with substantial customizations may require additional on-going modifications by the client due to the periodic releases of updates and enhancements.
  4. The web server must be a dedicated host and cannot perform any other tasks, including but not limited to a service provider, mail server, file server, etc.

4Performing the Relius Administration 7.3 Web/CSR Installations

Pre-installation Notes:

a)This installation is valid for Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2 or higher. Any other operating system is not valid or supported.

b)Relius Administration 7.3 must be installed and fully functional (including database upgrade scripts) at each workstation before beginning this installation.

c)Be sure no screen saver will become active during the installation. If a screen saver is to be used after the installation, the default “logon” and the “blank” screen savers use the fewest resources on the server.

d)The installation process takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete. The process of upgrading the databases may take longer, depending on the amount of data in the databases.

e)Assure you have a valid backup of your Web Server and a valid database export before proceeding. SunGard Corbel cannot be held responsible for the integrity of your data or servers.

f)Unless otherwise noted, all activity is conducted from the Web Server.

4.1Remove any icons or shortcuts from the StartUp folder. Additionally, programs that are set to launch when Windows is started can also be specified in C:\WINDOWS\WIN.INI. Please edit this file using Notepad. Temporarily remark the entries RUN= and LOAD= by placing a semi-colon (“;”) in front of the line (if programs are specified), then Save and Exit the WIN.INI file. Example of remark:
;RUN=EXAMPLE.EXE

4.2Re-start the computer. Windows or other programs may have locked some files that need to be overwritten during the upgrade process.
