Title: RSE Project Officer

Location: Belfast
Hours: 20 hrs per week

Aim of Post: To deliver Relationships and Sexuality Education in Community Settings

Job Description: A consortium of organisations consisting of: Nexus, Relate and The Rainbow Project have been awarded a contract to deliver Relationships and Sexuality Education in community settings. Each organisation within the consortium will employs one part-time member of staff to deliver the programme.

The person appointed to this role will be responsible for developing and delivering Relationships and Sexuality Education in community settings across Northern Ireland. The aim of this project is to deliver workshops providing education and information around; promoting good sexual health, healthy relationships and domestic and sexual abuse.

Programmes will be delivered to: 11 year olds, 12-14 year olds, 15-16 years old and 16 years and older. Candidates should be prepared to deliver age-appropriate information to each of these groups of young people.

The person appointed to this contract, although employed by The Rainbow Project, will be expected to work as a team to deliver the contract outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The RSE Project Worker Officer will:

·  Develop age-appropriate and engaging RSE work programmes

·  Promote uptake of RSE programmes across Northern Ireland

·  Monitor uptake and evaluate workshops

·  Ensure that the contents of work programmes meet the needs of attendees

·  Educate attendees of risk, safer sex strategies, negotiating sex and consent

·  Provide attendees with signposts to relevant organisations and individuals

·  Other appropriate duties as required by Line Manager

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

·  A minimum of OCN Level 2 in Sexual Health or equivalent

Or

·  Two years’ experience in delivering sexual health programmes whilst working towards the achievement of the OCN Level 2 qualification or equivalent within 6 months of beginning service.

·  Access to a car and a valid full driving license by the job closing date

Or

·  Otherwise able to fulfill the mobility requirements of the post.

·  5 GCSEs

·  Access NI clearance to work with young people and vulnerable adults

·  Experience and proficiency in using information technology including: MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint

·  Experience of monitoring and data input

·  Excellent communication skills including oral and written communication

·  Experience of group facilitation and one-to-one facilitation

·  Knowledge of understanding of equality and diversity issues

Desirable criteria:

·  Knowledge and understanding of sexual abuse

·  Knowledge and understanding of sexual orientation and gender identity

·  Experience of working on drugs and alcohol issues

·  Experience of working with the community/voluntary sector

·  Experience of engaging with relevant statutory agencies

·  Experience of delivering age-appropriate sexual health work programmes

·  Understanding and appreciation for different styles of learning
