Job Title: / External Relations Manager
Reports to: / Chief Executive Officer

Primary Purpose: To build and retain face to face relationships with key employers of IET members and further and higher educational establishments to raise awareness of the services available from IET Connect

Key Tasks:

Relationship development and management

  • Undertake all research and prospecting for the development of new relationships
  • Develop and maintain relationships with higher education and further education establishments, local IET networks and small and large companies employing IET members
  • Maintain an up to date database of contacts and meeting outcomes
  • Identify and make arrangements for attending key engineering events locally, nationally and internationally to raise the profile of IET Connect
  • Report findings from external meetings to so that services can be developed or introduced to meet the welfare needs of IET members and their dependants
  • Develop and maintain links with appropriate departments in the IET

Volunteer management

  • Recruit and manage a network of workplace ambassadors (volunteers within the workforce)

Marketing

  • Develop and oversee the design of appropriate marketing material for IET members and their employers/educational establishments
  • Design and deliver presentations for target groups (including students, apprentices and IET members of working age) at a variety of events to raise awareness of IET Connect’s services
  • Develop and implement a plan to ensure effective engagement with online social networking services

General

  • Manage own diary of external visits and make own travel/overnight accommodation arrangements
  • Make own arrangements for meetings and all other opportunities to raise awareness using telephone and email
  • Design and implement effective ways of logging performance, outcomes and expenditure which can be used in reports for the Chief Executive Officer
  • Contribute to volunteer Local Representative training as appropriate
  • Attend and contribute to monthly IET Connect staff meetings
