The meeting was called to order at 10 am

A motion was made and accepted to approve the February 2010 minutes of the Reimbursement Committee.

Medicaid Issues Update:

Michelle Stein-Ordonez reported briefly on updates from Medicaid.

A provider raised a question about services provided by PSA’s vs. HHA’s and when certain referrals are made by the AAA. A discussion followed but no action item was established.

Prior Authorization Issues:

PA reported no real trends or reasons for denials. The top five reasons for denial were

·  Lack of documentation of medical necessity

·  Incomplete signature

·  Incomplete forms

·  Incorrect forms

·  Clarification of election signatures

Several providers raised issues about a common standard for a work letter from employers of parents of recipients.

HP Updates: Jenny Atkins reported on the provider education annual workshop October 19 – 21.

Medicare Issues:

Touchstones will solicit questions for the upcoming PGBA16 State coalition meeting and Charlotte. Mike Puskarich and Rebecca Kasper will attend for IAHHC. All past Q&A is on the PEG BEA website and can be accessed by a link on IAHHC’s education and resources page.

Co-Chair: Todd Stallings solicited volunteers to apply to serve as co-chair for this committee.

Healthcare reform: a brief summary of impact on home care and hospice from the recently enacted health care reform was shared.

New IAHHC lobbyist: Rebecca Kasper will join the IAHHC staff beginning June 1.

The following items were briefly discussed:

·  IAHHC strategic planning

·  HH CAHPS

·  Credit balance report

·  Supplies vendors and DME providers continue to have the impression that the home health benefit bundles all supplies.

The meeting was adjourned approximately 12 noon.
