Regulations Regarding Division of Authority Among Ministries to Ensure State Supervision and Control of the Handling of Food

Issued pursuant to

Section 21 of the Law on the Supervision of the Handling of Food

1. These Regulations determine the division of authority among ministries in order to ensure State supervision and control in the domestic market for the handling of food in the following fields of activity:

1.1. control of food undertakings in accordance with inspection programmes;

1.2. control of food undertakings, if there is determined cause for suspicion regarding non-compliance of food products with the mandatory harmlessness and quality requirements, or in relation to consumer complaints.

2. State supervision and control of the handling of food in the fields of activity referred to in Paragraph 1 of these Regulations shall be ensured, in accordance with the division of authority and competence among ministries referred to in the Annex to these Regulations, by State supervision and control institutions subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Welfare, and competent institutions authorised in accordance with the procedures determined in regulatory enactments.
