Call to Order: Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm.
Roll Call: Trustees K. D’Asto, R. Myers, N. Gray and P. Remm were present. President L. LaSure was present. Clerk L. Myers was present. There were 6 people in the audience.
Approval of Minutes: A MOTION by R. Myers/K. D’Asto was made and carried to approve the minutes from the Regular Board meeting on September 12, 2017.
Financials and Contracts: A MOTION by R. Myers/P. Remm was made and carried to approve the financial report for September 2017. Sewer to Sewer Assessment Transfer: A MOTION was made by K. D’Asto/N. Gray and carried to approve the sewer to sewer assessment transfer for $18,585.00 for a Sewer loan that will be paid Nov. 1, 2017.
Jones Sign Company Variance for Billboards: A MOTION was made by R. Myers/K. D’Asto to approve the variance as requested by Jones Sign Company.
Tanker at Veteran’s Park: USABOT (US Army Brothers of Tankers) is a 501c3 group who restores memorials around the country. They are willing to repaint the tanker at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in the spring for only a charge of materials/paint. This usually runs around $500.00. The Board will be working on a fundraiser for this and will contact them in spring.
Budget Workshop Date Set: A MOTION by R. Myers/P. Remm was made and carried to approve setting the final budget workshop to October 23, 2017 at 6:30 pm in the clerk’s office.
Public Safety:
Police Dept.:Chief Beckett presented the monthly report.
Resolution 2017-1003: A MOTION by R. Myers/P. Remm was and approved to pass Resolution 2017-1003: A Resolution to uncommitt police funds committed to be used towards the purchase of a newer squad.
Fire Dept: Oct. 28th, from 9am-12pm will be an open house and truck dedication.
Public Works:
Municipal Truck Review for Winter Season: The oil was changed in the truck and the foot step ups will be installed tomorrow. The board directed Public Works to only get one bucket of salt at a time this year when getting salt at the County Hwy. Dept.
Sidewalks Plowing: L. Myers reminded the board of the letters that were sent out to property owners declaring the village will only plow sidewalks that are connected to village property. Jeff LaPointe brought in a quit claim deed showing in 1990 he gifted his portion of sidewalk/property to the Village. The Village will be responsible for continuing to plow this portion. A letter of reminder will be sent to Portage School District.
Street/Stop Signs: L. Myers advised the board that she was just made aware of a new requirement of municipalities to have high reflective street name signs and stop signs. This is supposed to be enacted by 2018. A MOTION was made by K. D’Asto/R. Myers and carried to approve to purchase the new stop signs for the village up to an amount of $1,300.00. These funds will be taken from Park Maint. And Hwy. Maint. Costs.
Public Welfare:
Library Report: R. Pfile presented the monthly Library report.
Park Committee Report: None
Beautification Committee: None
Public Comments: L. Radtke stated he must work on getting Christmas decorations ready for the Village street light poles soon. Steve Biba will help with his equipment to put them up and charges $100.00/hr. This should only take 1-1.5 hours.
