Cosmetology 20
Mrs. Morley – R108
Our Practical and Applied Arts programs are designed for career and personal growth. This course allows students to investigate a variety of career options and they are introduced to the many operations and skills involved with being a hairstylist and/or esthetician. The intermediate level, Cosmetology 20 builds upon the knowledge gained in Cosmetology 10 and continues to progress through the various concepts, skills and specialty services.
Apprenticeship Program - another incentive for those pursuing any future education in cosmetology, is the opportunity to accumulate hours taken in this school and be recognized by Saskatchewan Labour towards certification in this and related fields.
Classroom Procedures
ATTENDANCE:
· Regular attendance is necessary to ensure success
· If you must be away, a phone call to the attendance desk is needed in order for you to be excused.
· It is your responsibility to find out what notes, assignments or labs are missed.
PARTICIPATION:
· This is a hands-on class. Be prepared to complete manicures, shampoos, hair styling etc. on a fellow student and vice versa.
PUNCTUALITY:
· Arriving late to class is unacceptable and very unprofessional. Much of the lab work is completed in pairs. Being late will cause someone to be without a partner.
ASSIGNMENTS/SKILLS:
· Throughout the semester you will be required to do a variety of assignments. These will include lab, practical and theory/written assignments. You will be provided with class time to work on these assignments but some homework will be required when time is not used wisely.
· It’s important to keep up, as some skills take lots of practice time and you won’t want to be in the classroom when the rest of the class is busy in the lab.
EXAMS:
· Upon completion of a module, you will sometimes be expected to write an exam with a practical portion when applicable.
ALL ASSIGNED ASSIGNMENTS/SKILLS MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO EARN CREDIT IN THIS PRACTICAL CLASS.
BEHAVIOUR:
· RESPECT yourself, your peers, teachers and classroom expectations.
· CLEAN up after yourself and assist others in the salon – you are responsible for your work area.
