clergy assessment now available online

The Clergy Assessment is a new online system, and will be completed annually for providing feedback, mentoring and coaching resources, and improving clergy fruitfulness as disciples, as leaders of congregations, and as missional developers in the community and world.
The Clergy Assessment is a formative process rather than a summative procedure to assist clergy in gaining greater insights through self-reflection, self-evaluation, and feedback provided by the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee in areas to affirm and areas that need further development. The purpose of ongoing feedback for clergy is not to ‘prove’ but to ‘improve’.
A Conference generated email was sent to all pastors and Staff Parish Relations Chairpersons regarding how to access the system to complete the clergy assessment. Deadline to complete the online form is November 30. For more information go to http://www.inumc.org/clergyassessment.

lay servant training

Fall Lay Ministry Training
As you might have heard, the East District Lay Ministry Training is now being headed by Jake Ohlemiller and Curtis Banker. The East District will not be hosting its own Lay Ministry Training this Fall, as it has typically done in the past. Although the East District itself will not be hosting a training event, it will still be possible for people in the East District to participate in training this Fall if desired. This can happen in one of two ways:
1.  You can feel free to refer people to training events in other districts. (http://www.inumc.org/lsmtrainingopportunities)
2.  People interested in completing the requirements can also take courses online. (Here is a link which will take them to the appropriate place online: http://www.beadisciple.com/ ).
Look for information concerning the Winter Classes soon!
If you would like further information or have questions, Curtis and Jake can be reached with the INUMC email addresses: and

Covenant Partners Ministries is in need of a van!
Friends,
The 15 passenger van we now have at Covenant Partners Ministries is rapidly nearing the end of its usable life. It is a 1998 Dodge B3500 van. The floor and rear door both have holes rusted completely through and this alone would probably be cause for replacement. It has no A/C, the blower motor for the heater only works on high (I have replaced the resistor twice in one month), the driver’s side window has to be raised and lowered by hand with a shim to hold it up, the rear differential needs to be rebuilt, the windshield leaks, when you blow the horn the engine quits, and finally the alternator is so weak that you cannot run the windshield wipers, defroster, and headlights at the same time. Parts alone would be over $1500.00 and labor would probably be over $2000.00. A lady was kind enough to buy new tires for it this spring and I put new shocks on it in May. Everything from there up needs to be replaced.
This is a plea for help to get us a newer van. I pick up between 20 and 30 people for services each week and without it they have no other way to get there. We also use the van for women’s and men’s outings, church picnics and for youth outings to Acquire the Fire, Believe Tour and other events. The van is a critical part of this Ministry.
We are asking for a newer 15-passenger van that is in good shape and runs well. We do not expect perfect. This could be the donation of a van or the help with funds to purchase a van that fits our needs.
If you cannot help financially or with the donation of a van, please help us with prayer that this need will be met.
Respectfully,
Jerry McBride
