Robert Iroga: / Partner / ACP-EU COURIER
Lai-momo is part of the consortium appointed to edit, produce and distribute The Courier. The Courier is issued twice monthly, and is financed by the European Development Fund (EDF). The magazine was first published in 1970 and is now distributed in about 100 countries, in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. It aims to increase understanding and knowledge of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries as well as giving information on ACP-EU cooperation as a model for cooperation between North and South. It also aims to stimulate debate related to development issues.
The magazine has a great impact in the ACP countries, where it represents the primary information review for a large number of readers and is often used in schools as an educational tool for children. After a four-year break, The Courier has recently been re-launched with a fresh, contemporary layout which aims to reflect the current international context and to reach an ever-wider readership, with a growing proportion of women and young people.
Besides managing the editorial secretariat, Lai-momo promotes the magazine in Europe and in the ACP countries. It also promotes the magazine to the network of NGOs and international experts who represent the link between the magazine and the academic and institutional world. Lai-momo was also responsible for the graphic restyling of the magazine. The magazine can be downloaded from The Courier’s website: from July 2007. This link gives access to the full issue, individual rubrics and archives as well as additional news items to bring the reader up-to-date on current issues. It also includes a forum to discuss the issues under examination.
The original contract was signed for 2,5 years, which were then extended for other 2,5 years on the basis of the first period successful implementation. The two figures shown as overall project value refer to the first and the second period respectively.
