Position Purpose: / The Div 1 Grade 5 Nurse,in consultation with the Clinical Care Coordinator, Service Manager and multidisciplinary team, provides clinical leadership in all aspects of the operations of the facility in absence of the Service Manager. They work collaboratively with all levels of management, clinicians, carers, residents, families, support staff and relevant community agencies to facilitate an effectiveresident focused service.
This service will be managed and developed in line with the Mercy Health overall objectives and Commonwealth/ State policies that pertain to residential care.
Qualifications: / Essential:
  • Registered Nurse Division 1.
  • Proven management skills, demonstrated team leadership, strong working knowledge of continuous improvement and familiarity with Personal Care and Resident Lifestyle requirements in the Aged Care Standards.
  • Positive attitude that promotes the Mercy Health care first concepts.
  • A current valid police record check.

Management /
  • Efficiently undertakes clinical operations in the absence of the Service Manager and Clinical Care Coordinator.
  • Maintains and improves documented procedures in Mercy Health manuals covering personal care, planning, ACFI classification, activities programs, infection control, medication management, laundry services, cleaning services and other areas assigned by the Service Manager.
  • After hours they may need to co-ordinate relevant staff to ensure the efficient preparation, serving and delivery of meals
  • After hours co-ordinate staff to ensure provision of neat, clean and hygienic bedding, towels, clothing and other items for residents in accordance with Accreditation and Australian Laundry Standards and infection control principles.
  • Promotes Mercy Health Diversity Program.

  • Conducts audits to ensure regulatory compliance regarding standards and continuous improvement.
  • Establishes, evaluates and reviews Care Plans, documentation policies and procedures, aiming for ‘best practice’, under the direction of the Service Manager.
  • Facilitates the implementation Model of Care practices, policies and procedures.
  • Consistently follows Care Program policies and procedures.
  • Laundry Services meet Accreditation and Australian laundry standards

Supervision /
  • Direct supervision of staff in Personal Care, Activities Co-ordination.
  • Facilitates staff development and undertakes staff appraisals.
  • Arranges regular staff meetings for communication, consultation and training of personal care, catering, cleaning and laundry staff.
  • Advises Service Manager of the size and rationale for any changes recommended in Resident Services staff levels or rosters.
