·  Approval of the meeting minutes. Moved by Laura Hartman. Second by Holly Belt.

3:42 pm / III. Review of Cash Resource Chart:
o  This is a resource guide to go out to schools so they know where to refer students.
o  The group has decided to remove the schools information because each district is different.
o  The group would also like to add contact information. / Send Jessica contact information by 10/14.
-Holly will contact Grace Health.
-Kristen will contact DHS.
-Laura will contact Safe Place.
3:50 pm / IV. Review CASH for MiPHY letter
o  Letter encouraging schools to participate in the survey.
o  This will be sent out and presented at the School Wellness meeting.
3:55 pm / V.  School Wellness Program Expansion
o  In 9 School Districts and 37 Schools
o  3 Child & Adolescent Health Centers (CAHC’S)
o  1 School Wellness/Mental Health
o  14 School Nurses
o  Mental Health
o  Telehealth Pilot
CAHC Locations:
·  Battle Creek Central High School- 20 years
·  Springfield Middle School- 5 years
·  Lakeview Middle School- opened April 2015
Services they provide:
o  Treat minor health problems or injuries
School Wellness Mental Health: Dudley STEM School and Northwestern Middle School
·  School Nurse-Full Time
·  Mental Health Provider- Full Time
School Nurse Services-
o  Deliver needed health services to the students.
o  Care Coordinator between Schools and Healthcare Provider
o  Working on:
·  Immunization records and assess the need for immunizations
·  New Non-Medical Waiver Procedure
·  Classroom Education-

§  Dental Health
§  Hand Washing and Preventing Spread of Germs.
§  Head Lice
§  Reproductive Health
§  Healthy Lifestyle
§  Summer/Sun Safety
§  BMI in 3rd and 6th graders
Training for School Staff
·  Medical Emergency Response Teams (MERT) 38 schools over 250 staff.
Mental Health Services
·  Most successful at the elementary level.
o  Telehealth- Videoconferencing to receive services.
·  Piloted in 2 Battle Creek Public School, Homer, and Albion.
o  Parental Consent- Receive it at the start of the school year. Signature is good until they are 18 years old.
4:14 pm / VI. Top Update
o  Teen Outreach Program- Talks a lot about goal setting, communication and Sexual Education.
o  Starting 3rd week of school until the last week of school.
o  Participants will receive, snacks, T-shirts, and other incentives. If the participants have 90% attendance and complete 20 hours of community service, they earn a $100 gift card at the end of the year.
o  So far, 81 students enrolled at Springfield Middle School and Harper Creek (3 clubs each week)
o  New facilitator at Springfield Middle School- Now they have a new young male teacher that needs to be trained.
o  Springfield Middle School will be doing pumpkin carving for the Zoo Boo!
o  Working on taking pre surveys this week and next
o  The CASH group is the quarterly advisory committee.
4:22 pm / VII. Let’s Talk Month
o  Let's Talk Month is a national public education campaign celebrated in October and coordinated by Advocates for Youth. Let's Talk Month is an opportunity for community agencies, religious institutions, businesses, schools, media, parent groups and health providers to plan programs and activities which encourage parent/child communication about sexuality.
·  Parents are the best sexuality educators for their children.
·  Parents want to be good sex educators, but may not always understand how to do the job well.
·  Children want sex education from their parents or legal guardians.
·  You can be an "askable" parent, a caring parent, and a wise counselor.
o  Talk early talk often. There will be one in the spring in Calhoun County.
4:30 pm / VII. Next Steps- Action Plan
o  Recruit new CASH Members
o  Serve as a resources guide to school
o  Develop a pilot plan for one school
·  Union City could possibly be a good school for this.
o  Work with community for Public Service Announcement
o  Angela Blood put it out to the Sex Advisory Council. One has reached out to Angela Myers already.
4:36pm / VIII. Organization Updates/Sharing Time:
o  Regional Health Alliance is having their annual meeting next Tuesday, October 13th from 5:30- 6pm at the Binda Performing Arts Center.
o  October 19th- Conversation with Brian Smedley about Social Determinates of Health. To talk about what are some actions to improve and next steps for Health Disparity.
o  Sexual Assault- Recruiting volunteers for the role of advocates. Currently creating a new brochure to send out to the group.
o  Calhoun County is hosting a drive by Flu Clinic tomorrow at KCC from 11-6pm.
o  Family Planning Program at the Health Department is still looking for 1 nurse practitioner for the position.
