MEETING MINUTES
December 18, 2014

- Minutes of November meeting presented and on motion by Kathy and second by Kirk; minutes were approved. Mike Row abstained from voting.
- CECI: Jennifer explained the dissolution of CECI and what it means for Works Council and her work going forward. The result is that Works Council’s work will be shifted to the responsibility of Workforce Development.
- CTE Funding: Jennifer shared the new proposed CTE funding formula. This formula was offering more funding for concentrators, pathway completion, and certificates, but this seemed to be at the expense of foundation participation.
- Action Plan Update: much discussion was had regarding our action plan and the Secondary Pathways Event. Postsecondary Pathways event Wednesday, February 18th. Ivy Tech will host the morning portion (breakfast, panels, speakers and lunch) and Magna Power Train will host the tour in the afternoon. Meetings will be held with both entities and other partners (Indiana Youth Institute, CELL, & Indiana State Chamber) in the event prior to our next meeting. Logistics, Food, and Participants need to be determined and work is ongoing.
- Innovative Curriculum Grant Presentations:
Blackford County Schools Application presented by Scott Croner—Total amount of application $42,259.00 with a private investment of $10,960 and a grant request of $31,299.00 for an Advance Manufacturing Program at Blackford County School Corporation.
On motion by John and second by Bonnie this grant application was approved. Scott Croner abstained from the vote.
Muncie Community Schools Application presented by JoAnn McCowan—total
amount of application $357,991 with a private investment of $156,250 and a grant
request of $201,741 for a manufacturing training program for high school students
in our region.
On motion by Rusty and second by Scott this grant application was approved. Greg Hinshaw abstained from the vote.
New Castle Community Schools Application presented by Bob Hobbs—total amount of application $98,362 with a private investment of $48,380 and a grant request of $49,982 for a precision machine trades curriculum at the New Castle Community Schools.
On motion by Tim and second by Mike Row this grant application was approved. Kirk Robbins abstained from the vote.
