Reference Guide for Facebook Profiles

Instructions

Create a facebook profile for Peter the GreatandKing Louis XIV. Use class notes, the textbook and the Internet to find information for both profiles. This is a research project, you must find as much information that will teach you about these two absolutist rulers.

You must include the following sections and categories in the profiles:

Basic Information:

Full Name: / What is the person’s full name?
Status / A quote that the person might leave that fit’s their personality (you might want to do this last after reading about him)
Nicknames: / What is the ruler commonly called or any other names you can find out about them.
Sex: / Male or female?
Ruler of: / What country or region did he/she rule?
Title of Ruler: / Official titles or names ruler was called
Year of Rule: / When did the ruler lead and rule?
Originally from: / It’s good to know where the ruler grew up
Famous Family members / Who is well known in the ruler’s family? Who came before the ruler and who came after?
Religious views: / What religion did the ruler practice? Was the ruler very religious? Describe religious associations
Political Views / What type of politics did the ruler practice? Democracy? Monarchy? Absolutism? Religious ruler? See what you can find about their political views…

Information about Country:

Country: / What country does the person rule?
Situation in Country Before Taking Power / What was going on in the country BEFORE the ruler took power? Was there turmoil? War? peace? Were people happy with the ruler? What role did religion play?
What role did nobles play in the rulers court (kingdom)?
Religion / What is the dominant religion of the country? Is it split? What do the people practice vs. what does the ruler believe in? (it might be the same, it might be different…) what role did religion play in the country?
How country changed during ruler’s rule. / Describe some of the changes that the rule made during his reign

Personal Leadership Information

Interests: / Based on what you found, what types of things did this ruler enjoy?
Religion? Art? Sports? (what types?) Killing people? Find information about what the ruler was interested in.
Accomplishments: / What rules, laws, decisions, reforms, actions did the ruler accomplish during their reign?
Ruling Style: / How did the ruler get people to follow their edicts (orders).
Were they controlling? Were they “hands off”? What vocab word would fit here?

About Me:

Write an “about me” section as if you are King Louis and Peter the great. (at least 6 lines) what did you accomplish?  What did you want to accomplish?  How can we get to know you?  What do you want to be known for? write in complete sentences!

Wall:

This is place for friends, family and citizens of the country to talk to the ruler. Write at least 3 wall posts from the perspective of different people.

  • Think about what different people would say to the ruler based on their perspective and life-style.
  • How would the ruler respond? (you can write a ruler response)
  • Refer to specific things and events that relate to the ruler!
